SO to any youngsters out there..make the most of it..your not young long.

Happy birthday "old" friend. But, bah. I turned 47 four months ago and have this feeling I am skiing down the steepest ski slope in the world.

There is a Movie called 42. It is about the first black man in American baseball.

By the way I am 55, can't remember 42.

Geez... and I'm 65... and rapidly approaching 66 (October)...

and having the time of my life!

Honestly, my life didn't take off till age 42! I was a corporate drone before then and then took the plunge and made a lot of good things happen!

PS the reason "42" is the answer to the ultimate question of life, death, the universe and everything is the simple fact that it's the age where people take what they have learned and then strike out in a new direction to really LIVE! It's the key to facing death with no regrets!

And Happy Birthday Wodin :) You aren't getting older... you're getting better!

Someone once said that, after 40, not a single day passes without thinking about death.

I know, a little gloomy but after all Shakespeare's most known work is Hamlet :)

And in that vein...

http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/threads/the-last-lesson-we-learn-from-our-pets/

and...

http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/2013/08/05/over-5/

Tore me up completely... having recently lost my Rat Terrier, Boba Fett... and now dealing with the decline of his littermate Chewie (also 19 years old). We are so fortunate to be able to live to a ripe old age, while our canine friends and companions fade away too soon :(

So... 42 is nothing... life is just beginning for you!

Going to bed and cry a while...

Sorry to hear about your Rat Terrier, Boba Fett, Rhondalynn. Losing our beloved pets really does hurt...I feel your pain.

Thanks for the links Rhonda. I'm currently in that boat with my beloved cat of 15 yrs. This is my first experience with a dying pet,and I must say it is rough. The strange thing is, that it seems harder to take than when I lost my parents. I can't explain that. The cycle of life, I guess.
Good luck Rhonda, thanks again.
