You probably could, but it would mean having Hull players in your team

I'm resisting the urge to tinker with my team. I've found a way to fit Cazorla, Mata and Hazard into my team which is darned tempting. With v.Wolfswinkel, Berbatov and Lambert in attack it could work...

Behold! It would need a bit of management over the next few weeks though and the defenders and reserve keeper are a bit meh, but the thing that's stopping me going for it is Chelsea's match against Man Utd in week 2 and the fact they don't play at all in week 3. The idea was nice though.

Mmmm look a tad eggs in 4 baskets .... The midfield looks tasty though

Right I'm going round in circles now.. I'll sleep on it and then post my final team in the morning....

Might give that route a miss

I'm quietly confident that my team from a few days ago will do the business. If Chelsea's gameless week was further away then I'd go with the new team, but there isn't enough time to switch the players about and Fulham are playing Arsenal next week so I'd need to change my keeper as well.

If the fixture list had Chelsea playing a better team than Villa and Hull then I wouldn't even have considered sticking those three in together.

Ok, followed Dixie´s advice and scrapped Johnson. Picked Sessegnon instead. Hmh, there must be something about Sunderlands midfielders.

How do you change from a 442 to a 343?

Just move a defender to the bench and replace them with a midfielder, the site does the rest.

Ive done a lot of fiddling, Bale will just have to wait until he is fit.

Dont dis defenders, look at the prices, last year, Van Persie cost 14 for 262, Liverpools Johnson cost 6 for 142, Sunderlands Johnson cost 7 for 146. Both Johnsons are better value

Mmmmm Man Utd players remain severely lacking in my team.... One thing David Moyes did at Everton was make them hard to beat so having two United defenders may be a good idea.....

Still concerned I should be going with van Persie... thanks alot JeffK you've just made it a whole lot harder to decide again

Back to the drawing board.....

I just entered my team into the league. I thought you guys needed a team for the last spot in the table.

Judging from most of the comments we've had, it looks like I'll be coming first then with 8 people in second/last place

That looks like a decent line-up. Ivanovic seems to be a popular choice with several of us. I thought about putting Larsson into my team, he's a consistent point scorer usually. But I thought I'd take a gamble on Giaccherini (well as much of a gamble as you can take on an Italian international player). Not sure on the Spurs strikers though? Perhaps Warspite will have a more informed opinion, but neither Defoe or Adebayor seemed to achieve much last season and I suspect Villas Boas will favour new signing Soldado in attack. Schwarzer probably won't get too many games either, don't forget that Chelsea don't play any games the week after next so you'll either have to change keepers at some point or miss out on any points from your goalkeepers.

Robin van Persie also seems to be a popular choice, but I wonder how many people will be able to make space for him given his hefty price tag?

Welcome Ormster - we now have a nice round 8 entrants

Only comments (for what they are worth) - Adebayor and Defore I think are unlikely to start. AVB wants a 4-3-3 so I'm hearing, and that means one up front - Soldado. No idea at this stage where Chadli will fit in so may be a good choice, maybe not.

But most importantly - what about your team colours?!?!?

We've actually got 9 at the moment. Someone else decided to sneak in last night I'll have to admit I don't know who, but they're in charge of Last Post.

One more would make a nice round 10. Of course we'd be happy to take any more who want to join in. Just short of two hours left before the start. Will this be Warspite's highest position in the league? Can Ormster climb away from the foot of the table? Can the colonials show the Limey gang a thing or two about football?

The only change I've made to my team is switching Foster and Stekelenburg for this week. Seeing as West Brom and Southampton are playing each other I'd have effectively been losing points if Lambert scored or Foster kept a clean sheet. So it would have been a no-win situation.

I suspect that I will not make any changes depending on who will play or not.

That was the reason I picked two goalkeepers from the same team. Most likely one of them will play. Same reasoning with Defoe and Adebayor. But if both of them are out of the starting team then I am a smocked herring or something equally bad.

Edit: Or make any changes from week to week depending on match schedule. But I do appreciate any tips or suggestions.

Edit 2: Spelling.

Okay no more mucking about - time to settle on a starting XI.

Thinking (if that's what it passes as) is:

I think Chelsea will win the league with Man City 2nd. Therefore need at least 2 players from those teams.

Would Like Ivanovic and Mertesacker, but in the case of the former that means 3 Chelsea players and I don't want more than 2 per club. In the case of the latter - Arsenal are a mystery - they will probably get 4th again, but they have big injury problems right now so Aston Villa may even spring a surprise. This leaves 3 solid defenders from top third of the table clubs.

Midfield - I really want Michu but just could not afford him ultimately. Given what I said about Arsenal, I maybe should have dropped Cazorla, but he is a quality player so will keep faith with him. Hazard then picks himself and that leaves two that could work ... or could be a disaster, but in terms of cost, I think that Snodgrass and Johnson are as good as any.

In attack I am taking a real chance - no van Persie so I can start with three. Negredo is new to the Premiership, Benteke plays for a team that struggled last year (but I really rate Lambert) and Bent is the real gamble. His injury record is not great but he has always scored goals. He has a lot to prove to Lambert and others so hoping he will get on one.

@Dixie: Stekelemburg?! He's an atrocious goalkeeper, very insecure and don't stop (catch?) a single shot...
here in Italy has made a bad bad impression...don't you have better goalkeepers in England? C'mon!

The idea behind the goalkeepers is a good one, especially with a good team like Chelsea. The only issue is when they don't play a game in a week, then you get nothing from your 'keepers. It's just something to keep an eye on as the season progresses and European/cup fixtures start to affect the league.
