Tokyo is burning and have lost a lot of production capabilities thanks to US B29 bomber raids at night.

The LBA bombers have been busy bombing airfields around Japan and hit some ports as well.

No capital ships spotted in those raids thus his assets are elsewhere.

In past couple of days allied launched an amphibitious invasion at Matsuyama.

This landing got aggressive response from Japanese aiforce and in a week I think we down +1000 aircraft of various types.

Those allied pilots definately held their own in order to protect the fleet.

Initial ground offensives were not succesfull but I think the city is doomed which is good news.

Elsewhere... preparations continue for upcoming battles....

The grinding continues and enemy are putting up stiff resistance.

Allied started hopefully their final assault on Matsuyama two days ago and hopefully we secure the base within week or so.

Allied bombers have been busy hitting enemy cities and causing fires. Latest victim being the city of Nagoya.

We have also a lot of transports sailing around the map moving supplies and troops for upcoming battles.

There is still plenty to come in this war but this is just an quick update...

Good to see this AAR continuing! Thanks for your efforts!

And someone better tell the soldier in the picture that those bullets will not work in that carbine ... and he should try turning his helmet around.

Allied transports and escorts hit minefields around Oita. This resulted several ships being sunk in various classes.

A good reminder that those minefields are definately not useless.

In good news allied forces have captured Matsuyama and are preparing to move forward.

So, I would say you win some and lose some since those ships that were sunk came from Matsuyama.

Allied bombers have hit various airfields in order to destroy some of the assets of japanese airforce.

In Burma sector we launched yet another ground assault towards Moulmein but this failed as expected....

...so japanese do carry on with good firepower even later stages. These troops have held firm frontline for more than 2 months now and no sign of them getting overrun.

In further south allied ships landed troops at Mergui and the base was overrun swiftly. Now we have beachhead close to Bangkok and route towards Singapore.

Sardaukar: At the moment it is 50/50 regarding nukes. I don't have any clues what to hit with them... so most likely not going to use them.

BBfanboy: Thank you. No problems and I will see this AAR through to the end. Good point regarding those carbines!

Allied focus in past two weeks have been Gifu.

I'am happy to report that we have damaged the aircraft engine factories and bonus have been that we scortched quite a few bombers in the airfields as well.

The allied troops are resting and refitting before launching yet another offensive in in this sector.

In Burma japanese forces have been withdrawing towards Bangkok and I have been busy moving troops into Mergui.

This in mind I ordered river crossing into Moulmein since a lot of enemy forces were spotted heading south.

The idea was good but execution left a lot to be desired for...as I said the japanese infantry definately carry a lot of firepower even in 1945's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ground combat at Moulmein (55,55)

Allied Shock attack

This is odd result in a way since as you can see defenders were penalized for supply levels and don't know if that has changed but that should have meant even more reduced firepower.

That does not seem to be the case and these units were fully prepped for Moulmein... oh well you win some and lose some but at least we are over the river and main spearhead is organizing further in the south.

There is finally movement in Burma. I think 1/2 of the japanese troops are racing towards Bangkok area due to allied landings at Mergui.

At home islands allied forces have focused bombing enemy aircraft engine factories and airfields. This has been quite succesfull.

There are scheduled assaults prepared for further advances towards Tokyo.

The Red Army is also activated and troops are given marching orders immediately.

The juggernauth advance has officially begun....

Not much happening around the home islands except preparations.

I have kept bombing various targets and in a whole I think japanese economy is beginning to spiral downwards.

British submarines spotted BB Hiei, BB Haruna, BB Kongo moving north near Phuket. The weather is not good but these battleships seem to escorted by IJN carriers.

The orders are given and Royal Navy is ordered to intercept these intruders. If the game screen is to be believed than my TF's are mainly not spotted but who knows...

In Manchuria first blood has been drawn when russian tank units moved towards Rashin. No major ground battles as of yet but troops are moving....

Jocmeister: Definately! However I'am not expecting walk in the park scenario in Manchuko. I guess we will find out soon enough though.

Pacific Theatre / August 10th - 15hth 1945

The japanese home islands situation remains deadlock but we keep bombing stuff daily...

There is an carrier vs carrier battle to report. The RN TF's moved to intercept enemy forces near Mergui and this resulted carrier vs carrier battle.

The result was however inconclusive with both sides launching mainly non-organized strikes at each other.

I can confirm that CV Amagi, CVL Ruyho, CV Shinano, CV Unryu were spotted with IJN battleships.

Only casualty of this duel was CV Amagi which was torpedoed by SS Tromp and also hit with Barracuda dive bombers. Next SS Tantalus hit the crippled carrier which is now reported sunk near Phuket.

Rest of the japanese navy withdrew towards Singapore despite RN TF's interception attemps. Now only peace remains but one more enemy carrier down....

Russians are making advances destroyed enemy defensive postions near Rashin and last turn captured Heiho. More troops are arriving at frontlines here so battles will intensify soon...

B29 bombers visit Osaka/Kyoto at night. The city is left burning. The allied 4E bombers destroy enemy aircraft engine factory at Maebashi.

The japanese aircraft engine production capabilities are now severely crippled.

There no sign of IJN TF's thus they are retiring towards Singapore.

Russians troops liberate Hailar, Sunwu and Kotou and reach the outskirsts of Mutankiang....

Allied continue to bomb industrial targets and airfields around Japan.

British troops make an landing at Victoria Point and secure the base there.

This thrust threatens to cut enemy supply lines in 1/2 by disconnecting railroad between Bangkok and Singapore.

Russians make an steady advance and are gaining ground. There were two larger ground battles last turn.

Japanese held out at Rashin but in Mutankiang defensive positions were overrun...

Allied heavy bombers are back on bombing Tokyo at night. The fighter resistance is light.

Recon aircraft spotted large pack of aircraft at Ominato. An strike was issued and results were good. In past four days around 300-500 enemy aircraft has been destroyed there.

Victoria Point is secured at Burma and build up continues there.

Russian advance is continuing and troops secure Taonan.

The battle of Rashing is ongoing and the battles at Yenki and Tsisihar are about begin. The japanese troops forced out of Mutankiang were hit by armoured units near Yenki.

This was unsuccesfull but now the infantry has arrived and hopefully he is unable to get out of the way!

All in all full scale advance is ongoing in severeal sectors.

Past weeks allied submarines have been hitting targets in various areas. Happy with that and hope this continues...

The game is still on but Chris is having a lot of stuff to deal with RL. Thus turns are irregular.

I have no objections or feel badly about this. He is an class act opponent and we will grind this through eventually.

Personally on the crossroads whether to take an semi- retirement from the game or grind through once more!

Need to think about this since basically have the time but whether that actually happens remains to be seen.

This however will see it END OF WAR date in due time and quite pleased how I fought thus far but definately not satisfied.

Allied bombers have kept pressure on around HI and B29's have kept visiting Tokyo.

The enemy fighter resistance has been decreasing and we have managed to destroy additional aircraft at Ominato. That airfield is now closed.

Burma has now been somewhat peaceful and I'am preparing for the next move.

In China there has not been action either but considering changing this scenario in forthcoming weeks...

Around the pacific moving troops and supplies which is the boring logistical stuff but needs to be done.

Russia is a diffrent story and this definately have been active theatre. There has been large ground battles at Rashin. The forts are down to 0 so expecting the base to fall soon.

Also several other smaller ground battles are fought around Manchuko....
