Have you looked at the manual? FOs have lower response time when calling down artillery (air support I don't know, but I always try to use FOs just in case). Next time you play examine the different delays displayed when you use different spotting units to call down artillery (select a unit, go to artillery, select an artillery unit and a target. Look at the delay (take note). Now try with another unit (unassign the artillery and then select the same target). You should find that the order of increasing response delays is: FO A0 command group x0 other command groups xn (n <> 0) other units. Except that when the artillery has LOS to the target response time is (probably) <= FO response time

SSG Matt, It is a PDF doc that comes with the download. It is only readable with the Adobe Accrobat Reader or the full version of Accrobat. It (Accrobat Reader) is available at the Adobe site for free. (roughly 5.7mb download) I have them all up to the current version (4.5), if you want one, probally the current version. Best, -Jeff

SSG Matt, OOPS!!! I mean, the manuals. Also, the SPWAW site in the Download area has the manuals there too. Sorry, -Jeff

SSgtMatt, you can also learn the function of the FO by playing the artillery tutorial just put up at the SPWAW Tactical Training Center. In fact, get all of the tutorials and have a blast learning! ------------------ Don "Sapper" Llewellyn, Coordinator SPWAW Tactical Training Center http://nwbattalion.tripod.com/spwawttc/ttcmain.html EMAIL: egcwman@mindspring.com

The FOs are also important if you play with CnC on. The FO gives you another unit with orders to be used just for artillery. The A0 and x0 units can call the artillery but they often have more important things to do with their available orders!
