Hi baloogan,

In your last stream you showed how to change the colour of the map. Black it looks really great. But my problem is, when i do exactly the same, insert the word "off" to the folder and start to turn theearth ball around, nothing changes. The normal map keeps showing... so the cache doesnt seem to build up new... do i need to change something else ?

Hey mercho,

I think I completely forgot to do this step!

In this directory
C:\Matrix Games\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\WW\Data\Earth\BmngBathy
There is a file called world.topo.bathy.200407.jpg
You need to replace that file with one that is entirely black; I've attached the one that I use to this post.

This week's episode will focus on submarine combat! We shall be destroying hostile 'boomer' subs, other attack subs, setting up attacks on surface action groups and destroying entire soviet air regiments all from the safety of periscope depth!

How can a submarine destroy aircraft? We will execute a time on target attack to destroy rearming soviet air regiments while they sit on the tarmac! You might remember this scene from Red Storm Rising, where a daring attack on an airbase from submarines results in the crippling of the air wing of the northern soviet fleet!

This Saturday's episode will focus on a plausible [link=]counterforce[/link] strike performed by the USA on China set in 2014. We will infiltrate Chinese airspace with B-2s and B-1s. Drop some serious ordinance on China's ballistic missiles some of which can hit the continental USA as well as set up Anti Ballistic Missile defenses around our allies, South Korea and Japan.
This will be a pretty violent episode!

Please join us, Saturday Febuary 8th 11:00 AM PST for the End of the World! Or ... at least of China's long range ballistic missile program.

As I'm sure you are all aware, there has been a greatly heightened degree of security at Northern Fleet Headquarters these past several weeks, a condition imposed by the General Staff in anticipation of an important, top-secret mission. The nature of that mission can now be revealed.

For the past several months, our finest strategic thinkers, military planners and war colleges have been working out the various possible outcomes of a war between the Soviet Union and NATO -- a war that seems to be more imminent than ever as tensions between East and West increase by the day.

Your mission: simulate encounters between NATO and Soviet air and naval assets to refine your skills; which will be needed in the coming days.

This week the People's Stream will introduce every late cold war scenario released by the Command Community! The stream will be at 11:00 AM PST; on the 22nd of February.

Situation

Tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan have risen to the highest levels since the skirmishes of 2008. Azerbaijan is clearly the aggressor making outward threats to use its air defense forces to enforce an air blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh and greater Armenia itself. Russia must act to restore stability to the region.

Enemy Forces

Azerbaijan continues to maintain a significant air defense system. They have recently fielded a battalion of S-300 missiles which are likely deployed near Baku. Their legacy systems include significant numbers of EW radar sites, SA-2, SA-3, SA-4 and SA-5 systems as well fielding a small fleet of MiG-29 fighters at Nasosnaya Air Base and GanjaAirport.

Task Organization

Engels Air Base: Tu-22M-3M Backfire C, Tu-160 Blackjack, Tu-95MSM Bear H, A-50 Mainstay, Tu-22MR Backfire

Mozdok Air Base: Il-20M Coot A, Su-24MR Fencer E

Mission

You are to destroy all Azerbaijani S-300, SA-4 and SA-5 air defense sites without excessive loss to your own forces within three days.

Execution

You are to use forces at hand to search for and destroy all known SA-10, SA-5 and SA-4 SAM sites. You may destroy any Azerbaijani unit that tracks or engages you in any way however keep in mind this is a limited attack and not one meant to annihilate the Azerbaijani Air Force. Please refrain from attacking airfields.

High command has made it clear that aircraft losses (and especially the capture of our pilots in enemy territory) will have politically unacceptable consequences. You are therefore ordered to develop a low risk strategy for reducing enemy air defences based using our superior stand-off weapons capability to the full.

Scoring:

Gain 100 Points for any destroyed SA-4, SA-5 or SA-10 SAM site.

Lose 100 for any lost aircraft.
