I'm following this forum closely since CMANO release, watched Youtube footage and downloaded the manual. That being said, there are two questions not answered for me yet.

The first one: titles like Harpoon ANW or WITP AE are abstract in their own way but create a high feeling of immersion. Is CMANO comparable in this regard?

The second one: From what I've seen so far and given it's nature CMANO is rather a tactical game with a short time frame, but would it be possible to create an operational scenario about Nato/Israel vs Syria/Iran? I'm not so much interested into cold war or some fictive 2020 conflict in the Chinese Sea.

I Lutzow

I'm a developer so I'll let the players answer question 1.

2. Yes you can develop scenarios that go beyond a day. Game does support refueling and replenishment. the game has a large number of imports for those nations from two different eras.

Thanks!

Mike

Undoubtedly and for the most part more than the Harpoons.

Regarding immersion that's a tough one to answer because it depends upon what type of games you like. Having never played a game like this myself I was not sure I'd like this. I thought I was in to graphics above gameplay, but this game is re-teaching me what I thought I liked. As it turns out graphics in other games are getting so realistic now there's not much imagination left to be had, combined with gameplay/strategy that keeps getting toned down and frankly many games are boring. I always thought because I was getting older I was beginning to dislike PC Gaming, but as it turns out it's the imagination that makes the game fun. Remembering back to the Janes series in the 90's and 2000's, graphics were cutting edge but still not realistic so part of playing the game was using your imagination to make it better. That's what makes this game great, so I'm learning. There's no sound to speak of in this game, at least none that adds to any immersion so (see sound threads about my workaround for adding immersive sound through background chatter).

Yes if you spend the time you can make a very long scenario. I've test creating one or two with a few triggers where a group of units gets wiped out and then triggers a new set. I'm very new to the editor but it seems almost limitless in terms of what you want to recreate given the time to do it. I imagine as the community grows we will see scenarios come out that will take weeks in real time to play through. I'm not sure on this but I think the unit limit is primarily limited by the performance you can get from your machine, which the devs are working on all around.

I have to admit I was on the fence about this one but I'm glad I hopped on over. Just hope they let me stay a while until I figure out what I'm doing.

If you imagine yourself overseeing battlespace in the CIC of an Aegis cruiser, then this is immersive.

CMANO has a high immersion factor for me. Experimenting with different weapons mounts and zooming in to see an almost round-by-round resolution leaves little to abstraction. Small fights play out well at 1 sec. resolution once the real combat starts. The larger battles I have yet to tackle.
