How does it work?

Playing the Wooden Leg scen, I'd like to refuel my F-15 at inbound to PLO Base by meeting the two tankers which are already placed on the map. But having all aircrafts in the same area between RP and even assigning fighters to Tanker Orbit mission doesn't work. When I right-click on fighters to "refuel (if possible)" they always perform RTB.

Yea, air refuelling looks like it's broken at the moment.
I tried the same mission and pressing "refuel (if possible)" will have lead plane of the group to approach the tanker and successfully refuel, but none of the other planes in the group will.
If I select any of the other planes in the group and repeat the order to them, again the lead plane that just refuelled will go and get refuelled.
If I approach not as a group but as individual planes, they all take turns and fuel up nicely.

It does work - I tested V1.01 after having purchased the game and uninstalled the Beta. What you do is assign the two waves of F-15s to the respective Missions. For example Wave 2 is the back up pair carrying dumb bombs, and Wave 1 is armed with the LGBs. Do this AFTER you launch them as respective groups. They will then make their way to the target - along the way you will come close to the Tanker Track. At that point you can select each Group and use the Refuel if Possible option. It does work - both groups had a full bag of gas coming off the tankers on their way to the primary.

IFR works, sort of. Don't particularly count on units refueling when you tell them to, though.

Not broken....tweaks necessary, but I've only "splashed" one aircraft so far with fuel issues. It was the tanker itself It gave away to much of it's fuel I guess, it almost made it home.....(and I guess you can't refuel a tanker with another tanker...I tried )

There are 2 different types of air refuel:
Boom and Probe-and-drogue (some tankers have both systems)

Most KC-135s can not take on fuel. KC-10s can though. (just looking from the USAF side of things)

Not only can, it´s kind of normal procedure that in an area with multiple tankers if one it´s leaving another one will hook up with the first one to get as much fuel as possible... the idea is to have the tankers lotering with as much gas as possible...

You're planning to do something based on the Vulcan bombing of Stanley airport during the Falklands war aren't you!

If a group does not refuel properly when ordered to, it IS broken.
If there's a way to work around the issue, that does not mean there is no issue.

On Wooden Leg: Did you try to not order anyone anything and just watch it happen by itself. That's what I do and refueling is performed reliably every time.

In Wooden Leg, yes. Just sit back and watch it happen. It works reliably here every time. If anyone has observed problems without giving any manual orders please let us know.

Love the A-7 Corsair IIs in the pic. The Vought F-8 was also one of my favorite fighter\attack aircraft.

Well, that's fine for when there's enough fuel for the mission, but if I'm sending planes on a long flight I KNOW they won't survive without refueling, the manual order better work.

Also, in wooden leg, after failing numerous attempts to refuel manually, the planes turned back before reaching firing range when they ran out of fuel.

It should either realize before attempting that it cannot perform the mission without refueling, or accept my manual refuel order.
Preferably both should be possible.
