Chair Back B (DB Sensor ID 386) is missing the FC/Illumination property. It should be basically a straight copy of the Chair Back A to support the battalion LLVs.

Could you add encapsulated AIM-9X's for US submarines? It has likely been in service since 2009 and a single missile fits in a standard missile tube or VPM missile tube.

Twelve JL-10 (export name L-15) has been handed over to PLANAF recently. They aren't combat aircraft so they should be immediately serviceable. I think they are the same as #4259 because there aren't any confirmed weapon loadout yet:

China launches their KH-11 equivalent, joining the exclusive club made of only the USA to date.

https://satelliteobservation.net/2018/08/02/gf-11-how-do-you-say-kennen-in-chinese/

quote:

Knowing the stage has a diameter of 2.9m, and is almost completely parallel to the virtual camera, the diameter of the satellite’s aperture can be estimated at 1.7m. That means it carries a big mirror: the largest mirror carried by a commercial Earth Observation satellite is Worldview 3 & 4 ‘s 1.1m mirror, manufactured in the USA by ITT Exelis. For non-commercial satellites, the French have published images of their Helios 2 spy satellites, suggesting they have a 1.4m mirror. GF-1 beats them all, and is in fact only outclassed in its category of an optical imaging satellite by two US products:

– the Hubble Space Telescope, which has a 2.4m mirror working at optical wavelengths

– the KENNEN optical spy satellites, generally known under the KH-11 designation, which are rumoured to have a similar mirror size to Hubble. This is supported by the fact that the National Reconnaissance Office gifted two 2.4m optical mirrors it no longer had use for to NASA, which plans to use it for its WFIRST observatory. Additionally, people who have seen high-resolution images of these satellites have described them as “stubby Hubbles“.

So China seems to have accomplished a great leap forward in space optics. As GF-11 is positioned on a 470km circular 247x693km elliptical orbit, a 1.7m mirror would give it a ground resolution of 8 to 10cm at perigee, at around 10AM local solar time and at 20°N, right over India and the South China Sea. At the average altitude of 470km, the resolution is still 15 to 20cm, surpassing all commercial satellites and most reconnaissance satellites. This propels China into the select club of countries that can acquire NIIRS 8-9 satellite imagery, meaning the resolution is high enough to identify small hand-held weapons. Presumably the only members of this club are the US and now China, and that will continue to be the case in the foreseeable future, with maybe Russia joining them later if the Razdan program fulfills its promises.

From the update thread:

The DARPA Tactical Boost Glide has been formalized into a USAF program named AGM-183A ARRW, Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon. This is in addition to the HCSW, Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon. That leaves the DARPA funded HAWC, Hypersonic Airbreathing Weapons Concept, as an unresolved program. Though, based on the TBG --> ARRW, one suspects that HAWC --> HCSW happened.

Link: http://airforcemag.com/Features/Pages/2018/April%202018/Lockheed-Martin-Gets-928-Million-Hypersonic-Missile-Contract.aspx

Then there is the Conventional Prompt Global Strike which has been tested for US SSBN use.

Last point of further confusion: HCSW and ARRW may be both boost glide weapons, but with different sizes.

I noticed in the latest update that the F-35s have things like "2017, Block 3F, 7G Clearance" and "2025, 6x AMRAAM, Block 3I/4, 9G Clearance", with agility being 4.5 for all F-35 entries up until those "9G Clearance" entries (which are 5.0 for agility).

So firstly, Block 3i was the predecessor to Block 3F (3i = Block 3 initial, 3F = Block 3 Final); Block 3i was first delivered to operational squadrons in 2016, allowing USAF IOC of the F-35A in August 2016. Then, in February 2018, Block 3F was released. Block 3F also saw the F-35B's G limit lifted from 5.5G to 7G. The F-35C's G limit was already at its design max of 7.5G by Block 2B, but the F-35C won't be operational with the Navy until early 2019 anyway.

Then as for flight envelopes, Block 2B / 3i gave the F-35A a 7G flight envelope, Block 3F (again, released in February 2018) gives the F-35A a 9G flight envelope:

Block 4 is a bit messy, as the F-35 program is moving from big block software releases every couple of years, to software releases every 6 months (beginning later this year), but with "Block 4" not beginning until something like 2021 (tl;dr, using 2025 as the date for Block 4 is fine).

You can see the schedule for these 6 month software patches in the "Development" section of the image below - there's the continuous and overlapping development and test phases, and then discrete releases (shown in the row just above the big yellow "FMSim (Dev/Integ/Test)" bar):

So in other words:

In 2015, the F-35B enters USMC service with Block 2B, a 5.5G limit and a Mach 1.2 limit.

In 2016, the F-35A enters USAF service with Block 3i, a 7G limit, 40,000ft limit and a Mach 1.6 limit (F-35Bs also began receiving / upgrading to Block 3i, but this doesn't change their abilities).

In 2017, nothing happens (besides Israel declaring F-35A IOC in December 2017).

In 2018, all 3 variants receive Block 3F in February; the F-35A improves to 9G, the F-35B improves to 7G, the F-35C improves to 7.5G. The F-35B and F-35C get certified to fly at Mach 1.6 in May 2018 and June 2018. All 3 are permitted to fly to 50,000ft (or higher). ***Note that the software only actually limits G limits; pilots can exceed altitude and airspeed limits if they don't mind getting in trouble.***

In late 2018 to (roughly) 2021, there's software upgrades every 6 months, but these are sometimes called 'patches' to Block 3F, correcting outstanding deficiencies and adding things like an Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System.

In (roughly) 2021 to (roughly) 2026, Block 4 software upgrades are rolled out every 6 months, hardware upgrades are rolled out every 2 years (likely in something like 2022 and 2024), including a Tech Refresh 3 that upgrades the F-35's core processors, etc.

Some of the Block 4 capabilities are shown in the chart below; in total there's meant to be roughly 60 software / hardware upgrades, as well as 30+ weapons being integrated:

Question - why does the LRASM have an active seeker?

All the reports I've read is that it has a passive RF seeker with an IIR. So it would essentially be emission silent.

I am not sure if LRASM does have it either. But if that is real, my speculation is for terminal phrase guidance. It's impossible to stay silent within horizon range, and IR cannot guarantee to find the correct target by its own.

Well it does have a datalink for mid course updates. That, plus passive RF, plus IIR should be enough to get it on target.

Right now if you use them against anything modern, they get lit up at 10nm once the active seeker turns on. E: compared to the NSM with just IIR, it often closes to under 2NM before detection, and at that point it's in terminal maneuver combined with OODA - very low chance of intercept.

According to Tyler Rogoway, the LRASM has an active radar seeker, but only uses it for initially locating ships / groups of ships. It then supposedly goes passive-only and uses passive RF + IR to home in on a specific impact point on a specific ship.

However, most other articles claim that the LRASM operates entirely passively. The closest thing I can find to an official document supporting the notion that the LRASM has an active radar is a Lockheed brochure where it says "LRASM will also employ active and passive survivability features to penetrate advanced integrated air defense systems."
https://www.lockheedmartin.com/content/dam/lockheed-martin/mfc/pc/long-range-anti-ship-missile/mfc-lrasm-pc.pdf

I'm not sure that active in that context means an active emitter though; it could potentially be referring to active / proactive avoidance of pop-up threats (manoeuvring around them).

Echo I and Echo II class submarines can launch missiles when submerged in cwdb and db300.

For what i know its not possible because echo class submarines where famous for launching missiles whan surfaced. Charlie I class where designed to launch missiles submerged. After a little trial with all databases i noticed that all the submarines designed to launch cruise missiles surfaced can launch cruise missiles submerged.

Marine Protector-class patrol boat and Sea PROTECTOR MK50

At least some of the Marine Protector-class patrol boat has Sea PROTECTOR MK50 mounted. Photos show the mount on the USCGC_Sea_Devil_(WPB-87368). The database says that Marine Protector-class patrol boat has 2 x M2 .50cal. Sea PROTECTOR MK50 mount has a gyro-stabilized mount with built in EO sensor. Supposedly Sea PROTECTOR MK50 is mounted on US Navy ships also but I am unable to confirm which ships.

Minor correction. The F 812 Jacob van Heemskerck frigate (and it's Chilean version, FFG 14 Almirante Latorre) should have a 16 round magazine for Sea Sparrow rather than the 8 round magazine it currently has.

Could the USS Jimmy Carter please be given Docking Boats capabilities? (See the article below.) Also, could some additional UUVs be added? There doesn't seems to be very many options available. I realize that much of this is likely subjective because no hard data exists about some of these UUVs, but a revised generic platform could be helpful.

Thanks again.

The two frigates were purchased from the United Kingdom in 2003 for £116 million, as part of NATO integration efforts. The agreement included the reactivation of the ships to operational condition and NATO standard, an initial modernization to meet the specific requirements of the Romanian Navy and a significant Operational Sea Training programme through the Royal Navy’s Flag Officer Sea Training organisation (FOST).

Under the Phase 1 modernisation, both frigates were equipped with an Oto Melara 76/62 Super Rapid gun fitted forward where the 4 x MM-38 Exocet had been mounted, two locally developed Agil 12.7 mm remote weapon stations, a new fire control system based on the AMS NAUTIS 3, a Series 2500 Naval electro-optical system by Ultra Electronics, the Terma DL-12T decoy system with 12 tubes, a new torpedo decoy system, the BAE Systems MPS2000 communications system, an Inmarsat B global maritime distress and safety system, the Sperry Marine Mark 39 ring laser gyro compass and the LMX 420 global positioning system. The flight deck was modified to be able to embark an IAR-330 Puma anti-submarine helicopter and a total of 18 Sting Ray Mod 1 light-weight torpedoes were also purchased.

The Phase 2 upgrade was initially scheduled for 2008 but has been continuously delayed due to lack of funding. With a total budget of RON839 million ($197 million), the international tender, published on March 2016, includes the supply and installation of a new Combat Management System, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missiles, a close-in weapon system (CIWS), a 3D surveillance radar, an improved electronic warfare suite and a towed sonar. The potential contractors are Lockheed Martin Canada Inc, DCNS, Leonardo SpA and the STM / ASELSAN / HAVELSAN / CSR consortium.

IAR-330L Puma [Naval Mod]
• Missing Generic FLIR (3rd Gen, Surveillance) (ID 1727)
• Missing Generic ESM [Advanced] (ID 1593)
• Has Telephonics RDR-1500B Radar (ID 1974) in chin radome (added 2011).
• Sonobouys added in 2013
• Stingray torpedo added in ?

On the Romanian Naval Puma, ASW torpedoes were added only from September 2015.
Apparently from start was also equipped with depth charges BAE-1 UMTohan 45 Kg, SIM-100 dipping sonar and radar RDR-1500B.

All versions of the SA-5c as of build 475 seem to have the Square Pair FCR set as an Air-to-Air radar. This doesn't seem to stop the battery working, but I think it should be changed to Surface-to-Air nevertheless.

I requested this to go into the change list a while back but I don't know if it actually got added to the list (the link in the OP is now defunct. Is there a new spreadsheet that we can log onto to see the change list?):

UK Type 45 class:
Please add davits for boat operations. The Type 45 class has 2 boat bays for 1 Pacific 24 RHIB each.

UK Type 23 class:
Please add davits for boat operations. The Type 23 class has 2 boat bays for 1 Pacific 24 RHIB each.

UK Queen Elizabeth class:
Please add davits for boat operations. The Queen Elizabeth class has 5 boat bays that allows for 2 Pacific 24 RHIBs and 3 Passenger Transfer Boats.

Also, please allow for the above 3 units, as well as the Albion class LPDs, to embark cargo. Part of the QE class's role is to enable helicopter assaults with her EMF. She can carry approximately a company's worth of Royal Marines in addition to her ship's company and embarked air assets.

UK Pacific 24 RHIB:
Length: 7.8 meters
Beam: 2.6 meters
Speed: 38 knots
Range: 150 nm at 30 knots
Crew: 2
Passengers: 6
Variants: Boarding operations (6 sailors / marines with kit, plus 1x GPMG mounted to the fore)
Search and Rescue: 2 passengers (1x medic, 1x sailor) and room for 2 - 3 stretchers
Routine / Ferry / Passenger Transfer: 6 passengers

Thank you.

RHIB'S for consideration as important ISTAR assets please?

https://products.damen.com/en/ranges/rigid-hull-inflatable-boat
http://zodiacmilpro.com/
https://www.ribcraftusa.com/
http://www.willardmarine.com/applications/military-boats.html

Based on an amalgam of numerous country specific RHIB's,could we consider a modification of the existing DB civilian Pirate RHIB's and have just a few "Generic" non country specific Naval RHIB's please?
With the baseline Naval models available in the DB it would speed up scenario creation without having to create bespoke RHIB's from the civil versions every time.
More country specific RHIB's could be fine tuned if required in the editor with sensors and weapons fits?
