I would like to put out a semi-serious request for the addition of a few "out there" speculative platforms. Basically, I'm hoping to see a few things that would give more creative scenario designers a little more to play with.

I know that many people would be horrified if you actually did this, but I suspect if you added mecha, flying saucers, and sea monsters to the database, you would double sales for CMO.

Anything is a UFO if you (or your units) are bad enough at identifying aircraft!

Morning Wayne, I've got a new proposal for today well actually 3.

So the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers as built are not the initial nor final form of the design and I am proposing 2 hypothetical versions..

Version one is for a French QEC. The initial plan for the ships was for France for build one and the UK to build 2 but the French dropped out. This hypothetical unit is just the same ship more or less flying a French flag with one key difference. The French version would be CATOBAR instead of SVTOL. The ships are built for but not with CATOBAR systems and are designed to be modifyable at a later date into full CATOBAR ships. A French QEC would be CATOBAR from the start to fly the Rafael.

That's version 1,version 2 is the CATOBAR version of the British QEC able to operate the F-35C which would also be a hypothetical unit for the UK had they gone with this route or if they go with it in the future.

Should not be a hard one to do cheers!

Ryan,

I'll put this in the "Ideas that might happen" folder. I'm not saying that it cannot be done but it will be a very low priority. Also, any more detailed information that you could gather would increase the probability of hypothetical unit inclusion. Were there ever any actual discussions or related documentation for these units?

Any chance on adding a carrier capable Su-57 as a hypothetical unit? This is unlikely to ever be actually deployed but there have been some speculative and likely unreasonable articles on this. I completely understand if you don’t add it and it’s definitely not on the higher end of the priority ranking you’ve talked about. But it would be fun for scenario designers so please consider at some point especially if it’s an easy addition because it’s a copy of an existing unit but with the carrier capable flag.

Commercial KDC-10 and KC-707 tanker.

The US Navy and Marine Corps supplements its tanker fleet with aircraft from Omega Refueling, a private military contractor. They also provide rent-a-tankers for nations all over the world. Might add some flavor to the database.

Well UFO's would be cool since US Govt has acknowledged they exist now. But how would you use them in a game environment ?
You could make them instantly goto 5000 ish knots in any direction but there is no known weapon data really . Its said they can disable systems but generally they just fly off. SO what would a scenario look like in game ?
Not trying to dump on the idea because it would be interesting but how ?

The SU-57 just got its official NATO reporting name: FELON.

https://theaviationist.com/2019/11/01/nato-code-name-felon-su-57-gets-its-reporting-name-and-it-couldnt-be-better/

Obviously not a high priority.

That's a neat one I had no idea any tankers were in private hands. Looks like Omega operates 2 KC-707 and 1 KDC-10. The former are ex RAF aircraft and the latter is a modification they did in house to a DC-10-40. They are all drogue only, not surprising given it's much safer for the tanker and less skill is needed by what are essentially commercial crews.

Okay, just for fun, I tried to work up a quasi-realistic sea monster. I'm sure there are a lot of things that would have to be fixed before this got into the database. This thing is BIG, one thousand tons, making it several times larger than the biggest blue whales that ever lived, but not Godzilla-sized (which would be about 10,000 or 20,000 tons). Here it is...I hope something like it makes it into the database someday...

Class: Biologic/Sea Monster
Service: None
Damage Points: 50
Standard Displacement: 1,000 tons
Full Displacement: 1,000 tons
Length: 60 m.
Max Depth: -5,000 m
Pier/Dock/Davit Size: None
Sensors: Mk 1 Eyeball, Generic Active/Passive Attack Sonar (Submarine, MF, Short Range)
Features: Non-Magnetic Hull, Snorkel
Propulsion: Monster, Static, 20 kts. (Creep: 2 kts, Cruise: 5 kts., Full: 10 kts., Flank: 20 kts.)
Mount: Monster Attack (Capacity: 1, Launch Interval: 1, Armor: None)
Magazine: Monster Attack (Capacity: 100, Reload Rate: 5, Armor: None)

I have no idea what the sonar cross sections, etc. should be. I envision it as an apex ambush predator, so at Creep it would be VERY quiet, but progressively louder at higher speeds, but still reasonably quiet unless it was using its sonar in active mode. The attack is generic—bite, claw, whatever. I made it a torpedo because that seems to be the best fit (and the sound effect is probably the best match for a massive underwater swipe or ram). Of course, there may be a much better way to do this. The reason for the capacity of 100 for attacks is that I assume after a while, if it doesn’t kill something, it gives up and goes away (if it gets hurt and has to run, it can go VERY deep, deep enough to hide from pretty much anything). However, this lets it do up to 200 dp, which will sink lots of boats, ships, etc. I imagine ships or subs might sink eventually due to flooding even if the attack does not sink them directly.

Weapon: Sea Monster Attack
Type: Torpedo
Damage: 2
Sub/Surface PoH: 95%
Range (Anti-Surf): 0.1 nm
Range (Anti-Sub): 0.1 nm
Kinematic Range: 0.1 nm
Valid Targets: Ships, Submarines
CEP (Surf): 5 m.
Altitude: -5000 to 0 ft. AGL

Yeah... I saw them for the first time out at Hickam AFB, several years ago. I'm supposed to head out there again tomorrow, and it made me think of them for some reason.

Ok can't believe this one is missing.

Project 22800 Karakurt class Corvette:
Displacement: 800 tons
Length: 67m
Beam: 11m
Draft: 3.3m
Speed: 30 knots
Range: 2500 nmi

Armament: first 2 ships
1x 100mm A-190
2x AK-630M CIWS
2x4 UKSK cells for Kaliber or Oniks
2x 14.5mm Machine Guns

Armament: last 16 ships
1x 76.mm AK-176MA
1x Pantsir M
2x4 UKSK cells for Kaliber or Oniks
2x 14.5mm Machine Guns

18 planned
10 under construction
4 complete
2 in service
First commissioned December 17 2018

designed as a blue water Buyan alternative these Corvettes are meant to operate in rough seas and have a 15 day endurance for long patrols. They have no anti submarine warfare capability and are meant for anti shipping and land attack missions.
I could not find much on their sensor suite but based on the appearance of their radar I suspect it is similar if not identical to the Buyan-M.
