Just for fun, I was looking at some of the very oldest posts (from 2003!) and it occurs to me that there may have been a lot of people who gave up on the project through the years. I wonder if there would be some way to send an email to everyone who has posted on the forum since some of them may not even come to the website anymore and thus wouldn't get a PM. Sort of a 'it's OK to come home at last' post.

I know I've received email ticklers before from Matrix (for Command, specifically) but I think that was because I had purchased Harpoon. Frankly, I have no idea how laborious this might be, but if you took the time to data mine, I think it might result in a few extra sales.

Just putting it out there!

Steve

In a lot of European countries, this sort of advertising is only allowed, if Matrix has got a written permission of the owner of the mailadres before sending out this mail.

Well, we have similar laws in the US as well... I think there might be some sort of agreement when you sign up with the forums that you may receive promotional material. I'm not sure, but if so, I think it would be a good idea. I also think sending PMs might be laborious, but worth it if people are still active on the forums. Even a few extra sales help!

maybe it is not legal to send an email, but legal to send a PM to the Matrix Forums inbox. Just a thought.

No need to data mine since I have spreadsheets on who was on the beta (until 2007) and who did what on the write ups.

But I won't do it because they may be gone but they are probably lurking or will come back and check out the forums when MWiF is released in the USA.
