How many cases in WW2 need to be referred to for legitimizing the fact that Carrier Air Groups need to be represented properly in SC3?

Doing naval in a wargame is very hard. There are no concrete rules because so many variables are determined in naval combat in WW2. Some battles were lopsided where they shouldn't have been, other battles were engagements where it looked like two blind men with canes 50 feet apart couldn't hit the side of a building, yet other engagements were total surprise wiping out the enemy forces.

Anything is scale. Out at sea a CAG is king. Bring that CAG inland and land based air destroys it. Even if you take 3 100 plane CVs and attack a lane based target. How many planes does one land based air counter represent? 500? 1000? The CAG would get wiped out.

So you might say well then make the scale the same as the CAG. So many for Germany with 5000 planes @ 100 planes per counter isn't so bad. That's 50 planes. But now take the USSR with 18,000 planes. that's 180 counters. Add in the USA, England, Japan, Italy. Its just too much to micro manage. You have to adjust the CV group to the land based air. Thus 3 large CVs per group @ 300 planes a counter and not make them as effective as land based air.

In a strategy game handling the CAG is unrequired micro-managing that generally doesn't fit the system. I've tried to put together some ideas but they are redundant.
