ORIGINAL: bommerrang This is what I have learned in playing with the CW (or any MP) convoys/production. When placing your convoys during setup you can open the production form. As you place the convoys work from closest resource outwards to the furthest away. After each convoy chain choose the idle resource and "produce" it. You will then have a choice of a factory. It doesn't matter which factory you choose, just choose one. click on calculate. The program will then auto link any resource along that convoy chain and it may not be the one you initially chose. example: if you run a convoy chain from India to UK through the Med with just 1 convoy in each sea zone and you chose PRODUCE and chose a factory in the UK and then click on claculate the program will grab the resource in Cyprus. That's okay with me anyway as it is closer. Just place your convoys 1 at a time and recalculate with each resource. The program works great. Yes, you can only save 1 oil point if neutral. You will get another chance to adjust your convoys during movement and then a final calculation during production. Someone my correct me on this but the program does not auto update as you place convoys; you have to click on the recalculate button. Take note on the production screen about the convoys not used. Check out the paths of each resource. If you do this and take your time you will understand how the software works. Always place your convoys first before other naval so you can decide where to place your navy to best protect your convoys. The two forms, Naval display and naval summary are your friends during setup of the CW and Japan navy. Very nice. --- You can place convoys in sea areas during the Setup phase and moving them from port out to sea during the Naval Movement phase. --- You can bring up the Production Planning form pretty much anytime you want (it isn't available during the Production phase and a couple of other phases near Production - I forget exactly which). During the end of turn phases, there are two Production Planning phases: Preliminary and Final. What happens between those two phase are all the Stay At Sea and Return To Base phases. The purpose behind having two phases is so you can work out you routing of resource in the preliminary, and then decide about which units stay at sea. For instance, you may want to bring some unused convoys back to port. The second phase gives you an opportunity to simply OK your original plan, or perhaps tweak your routes if something nasty has happened at sea. For example, when returning units to base, naval interception combats can occur, which may wipe out some of your convoys.
