Hi,

I'm still learning and trying to understand this game. I'm not sure if I'm playing it right, but I think in this case I discovered a problem in the friendly AI.

To simulate a reconnaissance mission, I have set up an ASuw Patrol (Ground) mission and defined the patrol area with two reference points. 2 RA-5C and 2 RA-3B are assigned to the mission. They start and reach the patrol area as desired. After visiting each reference point twice I decide that I have gained enough information about the targets and order RTB to the 4 planes. They are still assigned to the mission, but head back to their base (USS Ranger) as expected. If I remember it right, the status says "On Plotted Course (RTB)". So far everything works as I would expect it.

On their back to the base, some missiles are fired at the four planes. As expected their status changes to "Engaged Defensive" (or "Engaged Definsive (RTB)"?). The planes successfully evade the missiles and switch back to "On Plotted Course (RTB)".

But here the AI doesn't work as I would expect it: Instead of heading to the base (USS Ranger) like they did before the missile attack, the planes follow a plotted course back to the patrol area.

I didn't plot the course to the patrol area manually. The course has been defined by the AI. For some reason the AI is heading back to the patrol area although the planes have been ordered to RTB.

Some additional information:

I think before the missile attack the status was "RTB (as ordered)".

If I RTB every plane again, they drop the course to the patrol area and fly to the base as expected. I will try to find another hostile missile to see if I can reproduce the problem.

I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. There's never a hostile missile when you need one. I haven' t got a save file that's old enough.

I think the issue was that after defending the missiles the planes did not switch back to "RTB as ordered (RTB)", but went for "On Plotted Course (RTB)". The last plotted course was a reference point from the ASuW mission.
