There is a weapon to convert aliens to your side.How can i use it?

Attack a bug with unit equipped with the mod. This will not always succeed in domesticating it, bear in mind. Not sure what the exact mechanic is to determine capture. Tempted to say relative unit experience, but that's just a guess.

The bugs themselves are actually not that amazing and don't upgrade so far as I can tell (unlike the mindworms of SMAC, which could become very powerful indeed.) IMO they aren't worth capturing except very early on in the game. Once you hit the mechanized era and beyond, they become rapidly obsolete.
