You're right that it appears to be tied to mouse movement (it changes faster). The weird thing is that the apparent rate at which the number changes doesn't vary with time compression--from 15 minutes to 1 sec to PAUSED, the number looks independent of what's happening in the game itself. You can also "freeze" the number by mousing over the black box. The number also "stutters" when you tax the CPU/GPU by zooming in/out really fast. I've also somehow been able to make the number disappear

Is CMANO mining bitcoin for the devs?

I would really like to know what this is - is it just a decoration or is it something integral to the game? to the ai? why its visible must be a clue
