Rex I think you misunderstand me. I am not having a go at your capabilities. But it is a fact that in such a complex game that even the most gifted gamer could not possibley master its many nuiances after just a handful of games. I have been on the ride since release. I have fougt many battles both on and off the field for the good of this game. 1000's of hours in testing, playing and posting a balanced perspective on the state of the game at any given time in its history. I have played the best who publish at this site and I think my experiences with the game hold me in good stead as to its balance. And as I always point out I am not a fanboy of either side. I advocate for a balanced game.

You keep posting about how tough the Soviets have it. Take on the German side against a Vet Soviet. See how you go.

And Rex, apart from being based on the 1½ game only, your views are very strongly stated as if they were facts and without any qualifications like "it seems to me", "IMHO", "based on my game with" or similar, which would seem fitting in the circumstances.

In fairness to GR, he does qualify his remarks in post 100.

As far as the whole guards denial by a competent Axis player thing goes, it is true that Soviet guards can be reduced, but is definitely not without cost. Your counter to this move as Soviet is to re-flip those same hexes between your forces to your control using cavalry, then back behind your lines they go. Now at the start of the next Axis turn, he has to move through what are now enemy controlled hexes. The Axis player expends additional movement costs that will in cases reduce the number of eligible attacks he can make in his turn. That slows down his offensive and reduces Soviet casualties. Smokindave34 did this quite well in a game I played against him, but I lived with reduced guards units initially and made up much of the difference in the blizzard offensive. Guards Cavalry Corps likewise are not hard to get in blizzard unless the Axis heads for winter quarters in Poland which we have established is no solution either.

"Rex, I may be wrong but I think you are not taking in to consideration the relative skill of vet Soviets V your own limited skill set so far."

In response to the bolded...
A) I'm expressing my opinions regarding the mechanics of the game, rather than claiming people don't understand the game.

B) This game is not so complicated that it's basic principles can't be absorbed by turn 100.

C) You've played 20 games and 1000s of hours... how much of that was before patch .11 ? Any opinion formed before .11 is tainted by broken code that is no longer broken. There are still issues after that patch that affects game balance, but if you read my posts, you will see that I made no comments demanding any of this be changed, but rather I highlighted it to draw Morvaels attention and left it for him to judge, since he seems to be the patching guru here.

Well Rex, if you think your skills won't improve as against what you have now as to what you will have after 10 games, who am I to argue.
