My spy just stole the territory map of the super pirate faction. I cannot find their base anywhere. Not show in political box "unknown" nor on galactic map (under pirate bases). Nor has an extremely long time of taking main map, close in, and clicking on every system/gas cloud. Anyone know how I might successfully access this info?

Territory map only shows planets for bases you need either operations or galaxy map.

To "reveal" pirates you steal their territory map, which shows their bases so you can attack and destroy the pirate faction.

From the manual:
quote:

Stealing Territory Map - Steal the territory map of another empire, revealing all of the colonized systems of that empire.

But I've also encountered this problem, in late game I wanted to eradicate some pirates but after stealing the territory map I couldn't find them. Maybe just that the game shows it badly so they are hard to find even though you should see them.

I wish the game kept the last known system info stored. The pirates bases are stored for a bit in memory then disappear.

As well, your Advisors remember those locations. They often suggested attacks at targets I couldn't see myself on the enemy targets list. IF I could locate the location on the map I could send my own fleet rather than pay a Pirate to attack something. But being told that they suggest an attack at the base at 'DT279' well, there is one hell of a lot of space to search to find the random name of some gas cloud with a base.

Okay, I was a bit unclear in my first post. Stealing a pirate factions territory map will reveal those bases that are classified as "pirate base" and they will show up as a flag on the map. Mining bases or planetary facilities do not show up, nor do ships obviously. So if a pirate has no actual pirate bases, stealing the territory map does nothing.
