Is there a way to reliably achieve manually controlled air refualling?

What I want to do:
- Order a plane to refual from a specific tanker (I guess that is not currently possible but can I alternatively:)
- Order a plane to refual from the closest tanker.

What are the steps to achieve this?
I tried setting the tanker on a support mission and then ordering the plane to "Refuel (if possible)" but the plane ignores the order.

Thanks

Either I am totally not getting it or is is just not working. In the attached save:

I have created two support missions "Refuel" and "Test" both using the same 4 ref points.

Tanker named "Tanker #1" can be assigned to either of the two and simply ignores the assignment and sails away.
The two F-18s I have moved to the mission area just ignore any commands to refual and keep circling 'unassigned'.

you might want to check what type of refuelling the tanker offers.

A boom refuelling is not compatible with a probe and drogue aircraft, for instance.

I think I mentioned before that one of the american tankers (KC-135?) does not have loadouts for both types of refuelling, only one...

Make sure you turn the use refuel/unrep ROE on for the fighters. You have it set to off. There is no "refuel now button". We rely on the AI to make that decision so that ROE has to be active to work.

The tanker seems to hit another reference point south west but then seems pick up the correct reference points after. We'll take a look. As long as this doesn't happen again it shouldn't prevent you from continuing the scenario.

Hope this helps!

Mike

Thank you both so much for the quick response! I will try the suggestions when I get a chance.

It is possible the rogue ref point was part of a previous attempt to create a support mission that I deleted (deleted the mission, not the ref point). I mentioned that in case it helps track the problem down.

I am happy to report that once the tanker returned from its mysterious trip back to the mission ref points and the F18s ROE was set to use refuel they obediently set course for refuelling!

So, apart from the ref point strangeness, the element I was missing was the ROE setting.

Thanks again!

This was fixed in Build 570.

Thanks for the emcon settings hint I was having issues with planes trying to cross Iraq from the Iran CAP patrols to link up with the Air Tankers in the attack on h-3 scenario.
