Here's the save... Italy declared war on the CW.

I reloaded and tried again, this time Australia stayed where it was supposed to stay. If it makes any difference at all, the first time the US entry roll was a 7, the second time it was a 2. Can't imagine how that would be relevant, but just in case.

Oh believe me, I did. Weirdness ensued. Took me to the set up minor units phase - the naval units were set up as UK units, the ground units as German.

Prior to this, had you loaded several games in a row without exiting MWiF?

Possibly. Probably. You do understand it's damn near impossible to play through an entire turn without having to reload to fix one of any number of bugs, right? If restoring a saved game causes a bug to appear, it's no less a bug, more so when the number of bugs forces you to frequently restore saved games.

I have no idea how many times I had restored, if at all, prior to this one.

Zartacla,

The link in post #2 is for the JPG. If you could attach a save below I would be glad to review it. Is it the same with the CONV issue? If so, perhaps the file is corrupted.

I understand your frustration, but Paul's point was that its useful to exit the game entirely and reloading a save rather then closing a game then immediately reloading from the splash screen. I am not saying this is ideal or even necessary, but I never reload a game without an exit.

I understood his point. It is a point that has been made multiple times in the past. A bug is still a bug, even if there's a workaround. If it's a bug in the save/load function, then it's still a bug that needs to be fixed. I'll attach the save game file, but as I mentioned above, it wasn't reproducible (on my end at least).

Oh, and the convoy issue happens somewhat randomly, whether on a fresh load or not. It is also not fixable, as most of the reload bugs seem to be, by exiting and loading fresh.

If we can add some verification that really strange things like this are happening because artifacts of the last game file being left in memory are the likely cause (which I have no idea is true here, it's just the only thing that comes to mind that might cause it), then it would encourage Steve to spend some time looking at this as an issue as opposed to trying to divide his time up among other things.

In the meantime, yes, a bug is a bug, but if there's a reliable workaround, then wouldn't you rather have bugs with no workaround being fixed?

Edit: Also bugs that are not reproducible will never be found except for spending time on a theory and then hoping they aren't re-reported. Time is a precious commodity now and for the foreseeable future.

So just out of curiousity, how many times would a bug have to be rereported?

Good news is, this time I have a save for you that will allow you to experience the pleasure of aligning Australia as the Germans...

Tried reloading from the DOW phase, hoping it would go away like the first time. It did not. Here's the file from the start of the phase - Japan declares on UK and Free France.

Guess it's time to start another new game...

I had the same problem. No prior games in memory, this was after restarting the computer. Italy declares war on CW and France in Impulse 3 of the first turn, France and CW are given the opportunity to align to Germany or surrender.

To be clear, this is NOT a bug. You were obviously playing with the Halifax succeeds Chamberlain option

Loaded your game - experienced the same and worse during the third reload.

My guess this is a regression bug from the work Steve did on the netplay DOW recently. I am sure he will pick this up soon, although he is currently submerged in the supply code.

I also suspect that there must a bug somewhere during save/reload sequence with possible weird effects.
I had a neutral italian TRS vanish, while the supply unit it was transporting back home is just floating in the Red Sea.
I saw it only at final return to base phase, and each restore of the last impulse at any state cause a crash.

Thank-you Empire - I was beginning to think this was a humour free zone

I've fixed this for version 1.1.3.0 - which should be available Monday (2/10/2014).
