I began what is for me my first experience with Netplay today. It got off to a rocky start, with troubles in the net play server (reported separately) delaying the start by a couple of hours, leaving maybe an hour to play. I was originally going to set optionals, forbes was going to veto and I was going to pick a side, but had trouble and forbesclan finally got it started. Not necessarily the optional rule set or side I would have chosen, but OK, here we go. Maybe next time. Playing 2d10 will do me some good to get ready for WiFCon anyway.

We're playing pretty much the kitchen sink on the optional rules, with just a few left out. I can try to post a summary in a future post on this thread.

Basically we got as far as France working on their setup when the game crashed for me. I don't know what forbesclan's experience was as yet. For me the most interesting part is China - I still don't have a good sense of how to play China with the new maps, so I guess it will be educational to try to attack someone else's setup first. :-)

With the crash, will be interesting to see if this game can even be restarted, but anyways, I got to play WiF on Monday night, even if only for a little while.

I think I'll plan to leave strategy notes behind and come back after there's no spoilers and fill them in - forbes, perhaps you'd like to do the same? Might make this more interesting in the long run.

Anyways, just a starter thread for now. More to come!
