How do i take units (namely subs) out of formations.

Also how do I check the fuel levels of units in a formation

hit the number 9 on your keypad to toggle between group and unit mode.

From there you can use "d"(for detach) to take units out of a group. Also while in unit view you can check on fuel status of any plane or ship thats in a group.
