How would you segment the map if you could. Do you also think it is odd to have the Americas on the right hand side of the map? Where would you place a divide to cut of the Americas. What sections would you possibly trim. Could someone provide the segmentation of the map that is for sale?

Here is a template I found:

I may be off a hair, here and there, but the crop lines on the printed map break down approximately like so...

Shellshock has it right. This is the layout for the segmentation which was selected for the printed maps. Four were reviewed: 2 had 26" x 37" segments and the other two were 30" x 42". For each size there was a portrait and landscape orientation of the maps considered.

Hi Dabrion,

I need to trim one column of maps to put it on the wall. It is either America west or east, still not decided.

Buy two sets of maps, then you can have it both ways!

Bigger room is a better idea

Hmmm. How's the wife with the fact you want to move to another house?

She is probably good with it since she always wanted to live in a castle.

I proposed to use the wall in the living room, but somehow she managed (without that many words) to veto that idea.
Before doing this, the wall needs to be pastered again (now rough plaster), and if I do this, it needs to be done really well. Knowing one's ablities is important, and in this respect that means hiring a professional. Given the amount of decisions that takes I have settled for now to get stuck at the decision which column will not be used.

for playability purposes, I'd break the maps anywhere in North America. if a vigorous Battle of the Atlantic gets going, you want the US ports and sea zones down to the Caribbean all close together and accessible. we used to put the America in Flames maps just to the east of the European maps for this purpose.

a break in between Pearl Harbor and the US West Coast is also a good place; the majority of any game, only the USA will ever need to move units across this space occasionally.

I will eventually own the printed MWiF maps, but a lot of them (again North America, but also large portions of the south and western Pacific) just aren't really needed to play a game of 39-45 Global War. The American mini-map was a nice simple solution, but not completely useful with stacks of counters. A larger, special map with large boxes for the various US and Canadian ports and all of the sea zones that were otherwise only part of the 'mini-map' would be a lot more useful.
