Awesome game...I am having a blast.

Took a few races to figure it out but it dawned on me that the strategies are very similar to what a Nascar driver has to contend with.

Tight turns too fast = increased tire wear (destroying your Qvadriga)
Push your engine too hard = whipping your horses too much (increased chance of damaging)
Finding the correct line for the specific track
Bump drafting...LOL

Everything is similar except for the pit stop strategies.

The best value in a game I have had in a while.

I just started the campaign (I have just been playing single races so far).

My team name - Hendrick
My 3 Auriga's - Johnson, Gordon, and Earnhardt Jr...LOL

I just want to underline the point here about value for money in this game -- totally agree!

I agree. A Nascar simulation (or a Formula 1) based on a modified engine would be great!

I reckon a Car Wars like version would be the best.

One of the things that make this more appealing to wargamers is the violence of whipping and ramming an opponent. Just managing a car to make several laps in a race sounds very boring, unless it's some silly unrealistic death race.

Agreed. Plus the ramming/whipping introduces much more variability into the races. If it's just a matter of chariots or cars circling around the track, ho-hum.

"Car Wars is a vehicle combat simulation game developed by Steve Jackson Games. It was first published in 1980.[1] Players control armed vehicles in a post-apocalyptic future."
I don't know, I never played the game, but it sounds pretty silly!

I play other sports games and there is a huge demand for a good modern race simulation. Just imagine, graphics, sound, pilots pictures, tracks, seasons disks (modern and old) and so on

Seriously, I got this game as a huge NASCAR fan and have been really enjoying it. I would love to see a NASCAR type turn based racing game (cannot wait for the boardgame Thunder Alley).

There was a PC version of Car Wars, back in 1985. It was called Autoduel. I would post a link, but I can't.

Count me in for either a Nascar or a Car Wars game based on Qvadriga.
Maybe even both.

I do believe that a Nascar game would be closer to Qvadriga.
Yes you can whip your opponents horses but the main goal of Qvadriga is to WIN the race, not destroy all your opponents.

The Car Wars boardgame took place on a open highway and the goal was to destroy your opponents. There was no finish line.

Some Nascar tracks lend themselves to a lot of whipping of the opponents "horses"

Just purchased the game on others experiences. I have found it to be one great game. this game scratches my itch for an enjoyable game not of war gaming per se. But still has the feel of another world and time where I can imagine centurion soldiers guarding the arenas to keep security. Great immersion. I'm not a fan of Nascar . For me this game has enough going for it to keep my interest for a long time.
For the price, what entertainment! Nothing gives me more pleasure than to make a purchase of a game and I can have so much fun. congratulations to makers of this game. Seriously, if this is an example of what is in store for us. In your future ventures happy and satisfied customers will be your payment(lol $ success too)

I watched a DAS24680 playthrough of this game, and have decided to buy it on the strength of his work. I reckon DAS has given you quite few buys over time.

Anyway, while watching the playthrough, it occurred to me that the same principle could be applied to motor racing management games. I was thinking formula 1 (because that's my main interest). So I came to this board to post my opinion, then realised others have already got there, with NASCAR. I can see that NASCAR may be just as good as F1, or possibly even better. Anyway, I do think there are other opportunities here - your game mechanics are fabulous.

So would Ogre, it would be the most obvious because the Ogre is so dang easy to do an AI for.

For me, a NASCAR or Formula 1 type game might be interesting if you could set up your car in various ways and NOT have to sit through each lap.

Early NASCAR and early Forumla 1. Tweaking various aspect that may or may not be caught by the judges, weight saving designs, engine mods, fuel mods, tires and suspension tweaks. Might be fun.

Someone long ago did a computer Ogre game, just like the old paper boardgame. Fairly crude in appearance and play, but just as viable as the paper version.
