Hi all, I've the intention to play the Grand Campaign vs the Allied AI.
I made a research in the forum, assuming this subject has already been discussed, but I found a lot of discussion/tutorial about playing as Allies vs Japanese AI, but nothing about playing as Japanese vs Allied AI.
But now get to the point: is there any expert player that playing the GC vs Allied AI?
If yes, I need some general advice on how to make the gaming experience enjoyable, and more balanced as possible.
Or, alternatively, one link to a thread already existing about this theme.
Thanks for your time.

I have a Scen 2 grand campaign against the Allied AI in late 1943. It was very easy to overrun the AI completely, and it began making stupid mistakes. It's to the point now that I have to play head to head when I load it up and just let the AI get its forces built back up. If I had taken care of the stupid mistakes early this probably would not be necessary at this point and it would have enough of a navy to begin actual offensive operations.

It seems that, so long as you don't leapfrog too much, the AI will do OK. I pushed all the way to Sydney in that game and it fought me every step of the way, although it began sending foolhardy amphibious operations to Townsville and so forth that would have been suicide runs. It also likes to send unescorted amphibious forces from Ndeni (US controlled) to Tulagi or Luganville (both mine), into the teeth of anti-ship air forces. Or to Noumea. That area is why I play head to head. In future, I think I would not push quite so far south so late in 1942/early 1943 to prevent this behavior.

You could also try an ahistorical first turn and forgo the Pearl Harbor strike (or any port strikes!) if you want to make it really difficult on yourself ;). You could also turn on reliable torpedoes for the USN to put more pressure on your navy/shipping and make escorts matter more.

- play as historical as possible. AI is scripted, therefore if you conquer more or much earlier, you might break it.
- keep the same HR as you will expect to follow with a human player, like paying PP for each unit you move from Manchukuo or no level bombing of industry in China

Thanks guys, I played 3 pbem and now I want to play in relax taking my time without pbem 'stress'...I can't stop
playing WitPAE, I think I have a problem...
I hope playing historically (and obviously paying PP for moving LCU outside border and similar things) make
the game anyway funny to play. Another question: it's the 'Very Hard' difficulty settings reccomended?

VH allows complete supply to all units everywhere. So bombing supply is pretty useless as no one will ever be oos.

I would suggest Hard and then 3-4 times a month run a turn on VH.

I am playing a GC as Japan against the Allied AI and I am in 'early '43 and this seems to have worked well.

Of course, I am just having fun with Scenerio 1 and seeing how far I can go. History be damned . I already overan China and now all these fine troops are slowly marching to India . Only sank 1 CV though, but have damaged quite a few. So we will see how the rest of the game plays out.

I'll try it.

Well, in the past I made an attemp to do a GC vs Allied AI with the new (at the time) Andy AI files...I have not played many many turns to be able to judge with better knowledge of the facts, but I remember that I being puzzled: (spoiler advice) I remember a surprising allied navy raid near Hokkaido in early '42 (this thing surprised me in a positive way), but at the same time the AI insisted in attempting to land in Ponape, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times without an adeguate naval support, I sunked many many ships and troops but the Allied AI continued to try landing again and again...then I give up.
I obviously appreciate the hard work he made, don't misunderstand me, but my experience wasn't so positive with 'new' AI scripts. It's possible that the new AI script are a little 'too forced', but I don't have the expertise to be able to judge correctly this aspect of the game. Anyway, are you able to give me a link to the thread? Maybe I'll take a look to the AI news. Thank you.
