With Sian and the mountains to the north secure, the threat from the Chicoms has been greatly reduced. In my games focusing on Changsa, The Chicoms were not only able to hold the mountains, but were able to begin flanking the Japanese. Sian with no factory, but one resource, is a medium target for the production value, but a strategic one for keeping the Chicoms at bay.

If I pursue them toward Lanchow, the circled area becomes a concern, with my main force shifted a few hexes west. A few hexes is not very far, but when the rains come and supply range and movement is reduced, being able to shift a unit or two back to help cover that area becomes a problem.

The Japanese rebase two air units.
The Germans move a weak bomber into a rear area city in order to remove it at the end of the turn to free up a pilot. The ATR is moved forward to a city in order to have the paras available when they are placed on the board, close to the fronnt.

The weather enabled the Chicoms to move into their defensive positions. Their situation looks bleak.

With their communist enemies on the ropes, the Nationalist army must now act. They can afford to move into the open ground to threaten Wuhan, and the Changsa rail link. The cav could have been placed adjacent to Wuhan, but I think their better place is where they are, threatening north of Wuhan toward Suchow and the unorganized bomber.

The decision to not reorganize it was one of those painful decisions in order to save oil.

Will the partisans appear, will the cav make it into the rear?

The CW Land the engineers from the liner into Bombay, and the 7-3 INF lands in Calais.

The French continue moving units to the front.

I just learned that transporting ships become disorganized after they land troops from the sea. I was hoping to pick up the garrison from Bombay. Next turn.

The Japanese rail the 5-5 motorized in to the mountain hex withthe Umeze HQ from Peking. Need some more muscle to counter the National moves. The ZOC from the cav units prevent it from moving to Wuhan. Apparantly they can rail to an HQ on the railroad. Will look into rail movement in the rules sometime.

The garrison in Hangchow rails to Shangai to free the militia unit there, since Hangchow is no longer threatened.

The Japanese movement screenshot will show these moves.

I think the Germans are about as ready as they can be to attack in the west. Two hexes on the border of Belgium are empty, in order to allow some freedom of movement due to stacking and potential Belgian ZOC issues. Its only a matter of waiting for the weather to clear.

I might have to do some air rebasing this impulse.

The Sian front is now stable, and now the units need to be deployed to keep the area secure.

There are enough units that can be moved to keep the Nationals in check in this impulse. The 5-4 INF may need to pull back into the swamp to prevent the chinese getting into the lines.

Winter will soon be over, and with wet weather approaching, supply will become a problem, with not enough HQ units for the Japanese.

If the heavy hitters and Yamamoto swing back around, they can move through the open ground and move on Changsa and or Chihkiang. A suuccessful campaign here can bring the Imperial Guard, the SNLF, and Yamamoto back to the coast in time to deploy when war with the Allies commences.

I think if I continue to attack the Chicoms, the situation around Wuhan will become too unstable to risk.

The lingering supply issues in the "Bermuda Triangle" are forcing reloads to clear the out of supply icons. I forgot to save the game before I started moving the Japanese. I think I got the Germans back to where I had moved them to.

I saved the game before moving the Japanese this time.

The Sian blocking for has enough units to deal with Mao for quite a while now.

Since this is the first time I have Attacked Sian first, I am curious to see how the supply situation will be if I continue to move Yamamoto south, when the rains come.

The door has been shut for a possible break through the lines. With a strong force moving towards the open ground, the Nationals will have to move back to the mountains or take losses they cannot afford.

The Japanese gearing limits are recovering from building the synth plant on the first turn, which will allow more INF builds to increase the pressure on Changsa.

I am much happier with this game going after Sian first. In the previous games, Mao was able to pin more forces down in the north. It was a tough fight trying to pry the Nationals out of the Mountains east of Changsa, with moderate losses. I am anxious to see how this next campaign turns out.

Germany rebases air units to the front line.

Japan rebases two bombers to put them in range of the clear terrain hexes west of Sian and Changsa.

Mao's forces are relived that the Japanese have halted their advance, so they stand fast in their defensive positions.

The Russians move a 5-3 to a rail junctionwest of Minsk, and the lonely AT unit finally reaches Tula.

All quiet on the eastern front.

With their job of drawing the Japanese away from the Chicoms finished, the Nationals try to move back to safety. The weather however, had different ideas. For the moment, they may have another impulse or two before Yamamoto and company can close the distance between them and attack.

AT gun moves to Chunking. Two units cover the aproach from Canton to Henyang.

Germany land
Italy and Japan combined.

Since the rains will hinder land movement, the Japanese chose a combined action, and send their engineer and artillery to China. Better late than never.

There was very little movement that would warrent new screenshots. A German AT unit moved one hex closer to the front lines. Warsaw and Lodz have units moved into them.

With only three land moves available, the three 6 strength Japanese units move along the railroad toward Changsa.

The turn ends.
