I suppose we should actually start this game soon.

Hello...I think you have the kernel of an idea there..crude, yes....but promising

How do we divide up the forces of the Emperor?

Geographic?

Tasked for operation?

By HQ?

Free for all?

Depending on the last name of the commanding officer of the respective asset in game comes to mind as an interesting option...

He who scores highest on the OCD-ness test gets the economy. After that, its easy to divide things up.

Good question. Want to try an historical divide and do Army/Navy?

Seems like China, Korea, garrison forces of Vietnam are one command unit.

Industry management and bringing resources back to the home islands a command unit.

Seems like the subs should be divided up somehow based on geographic need.

Ground units as per their geographic task/area of operations (which we haven't decided yet)

Naval forces and air forces as per ooperational needs?

We know how well that worked hsitorically.

Seem like theater/operational divisions make more sense.

Even more basically, we need broad strategic goals before we allocate resources, especially the big LCU's.

Big Push in India?

Northern Oz?

Aleutians?

Hawaii with quick development of golf course porperties?

Cut off communication to Oz? Marquesas for eg.

Quick vicotry on Luzon?

Total fuel starvation of Oz?

Kiddnap operations on Fermi, Oppie and that Hungarian guy with the big eyebrows?

Sounds good. I'll run the Ministry of Suppry, extra fish heads for me!

You can have China this time. I'd quite like SE Asia and DEI.

I don't think we need to take Northern Oz, the HR prevents strat bombing in DEI so Palembang is safe. We should drive south and southeast to isolate Oz from the US.

If she's in transit to one of your areas I'll leave her be.

I tend to agree with you on that. Trying to hold on to Northern Oz can destroy the IJN as we have seen. Maybe Darwin can be defended once taken if we had New Guinea, Horn Island and the Lesser Sundas defended.

We could do Darwin but then we just invite the whole bloody Australian army to the party. If we use Timor/Ambon as a shie;d then we can make them come and get us.

How about that little isrand North of Darwin with that nice Episcopal Priest (or was he a Papist?), then they would have to get on war canoes to attack.

I take it then that Luzon/Mindanao/New Guinea would be one operational area? Or perhaps the PI is part of the DEI command but that would presumably leave very few large LCU's for the pacific once freed up in the PI.

Yes they would but they could isolate the place with air power and MTBs.

I think PI is one command with Truk, NG and Solomons and then the pacific atolls another.

What if you two split up the land forces and non-carrier air forces - say one gets army land and one gets navy land, and then you split fighter and bomber squadrons so you each have planes to cover your assigned areas to conquer. That leads the navy and you can divvy those up - 1 gets KB, other gets KBL, KBL person gets better BBs, KB person fewer, etc,etc

?

just a thought

You know, considering I have barely even looked at Japanese initial dispositions before, this is rearry hard.

Here is what I have so far:

Kaga, Kirishima a CL and 4 DD composed into an Air Combat TF which will take up staiton off Western Borneo. A CA and some DD's from a (*) SCTF at Pescadores will move to the same spot as a surface guard. Zuiho will join later.

First turn landing at Naga instead of Batan Is. Second main landing on Luzon will be at Aparri. No opposition there and there are clear hexes most of the way to Clark Field.

Attack on Pearl with the remaining 5 CV's.

Very early attacks on Noumea, Fiji and Pago Pago (after we locate the USN carriers)

Four or five years ago, during my fifth (unsuccessful) attempt to learn Japanese, I got a Japanese word processing program. Since I never managed to learn Japanese, so I still need to read the subtitles when I watch a movie I have to give it some use, so I use it in my AAR when I do the Japanese side.
I love the Japanese accent in your posts though.

I'd just like to say for the record (I'm always wrong in this game so you are safe), you two have no chance of winning this. Its like putting two Benny Hills in a nudist colony and telling them to keep their eyes shut.
