I'm a Southern boy. Mom always kept an oil/fat can by the stove for frying stuff. My California wife doesn't understand why her food isn't as good...

I'm Californian with an Alabaman for an aunt. Her food is delicious...but makes me think I'm going to have a heart attack every time I eat it. One time I asked her what ingredients were...wish I hadn't. Crisco, etc. - basically the least healthy, fattiest things you can imagine.

I'll eat her cooking once or twice a year though, so it's okay, but I can't help but notice her and her immediate relations are all heavier-set. Probably has something to do with the food.

I've been learning how to make curries from scratch. My dad was born in an Indian summer station in the foothills of the Himalayas. His little sister is buried there. (gen dit)

This doesn't look like they were blown up so much as just knocked up (around) a little bit.

If they can be just a little knocked up.
