Is it possible to design your own galaxy? Not many types to choose from.

And can I make 2 universes than one? That be so epic.

And can I go past 1400 stars? I want a massive gigantic map for my beast PC. If not can I edit a txt file or hack it to do so?

Thanks :)

You can design your own galaxy, if you check out youtube.com/watch?v=wrk3oVy8VJ4 around 9 minutes he goes into the way you'd load that up. But basically there is a editor ingame that you can edit the map with, it's just there currently are no blank maps so you'd have to delete all those planets/ stars I believe and all the nebulas would still be in the same spot as well the ruins and any events the game placed (I'm not experienced in this area so Idk all that would have to be done but I did read thread on that). This is one thing that really limits mods that want to create maps to go with their mods.d

You could probably go past 1400 stars if you created the map yourself it's just the game runs on one core I believe since it is a little older and was designed with 32x computers instead of 64x or 84x in mind. Though the game does can use more than 3gb of ram. So even if your computer could run 500000 stars and 1 million ships and 300 ai empires the game wasn't designed for it so it wouldn't be able to run it. I've no idea if there is a option to change how many stars can be set to be made like the default 700-1400 or the 10x10 grid/ 14x14 grid is located.

Have a read of this post, I have just been helping someone with a very similar question.

How do you mod a map?

Regarding the maximum number of stars, I have done some testing on this. Theoretically the space available in a 15x15 playing area is sufficient to place around 100,000 star systems. I have no idea whether the game will let you place that many, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't actually run on anyone's computer.

I once tried adding stars to see whether I could reach the limit. I reached 3400 stars before I got bored. Never found the limit. I think many people see slow downs late game with 1400 stars, so it's probably a bit risky to go much beyond that.
