Not sure if this is a "hidden feature" or a bug, but in B538, if you press CTRL+V while in normal game mode you toggle God's eye view on. Since it can't be triggered from the menu anywhere in game mode I suspect that this shortcut should really just work in editor mode?

Attached a save game where this happens for me just in case it is needed.
