I just bought a new computer with windows 8.1. As you can imagine WITPAE doesn't play well on it as it is slow as paint drying and almost as fun at that speed. I have read previous threads posted here on how to resolve it and think I have the right information but I can't get to the right exe. file nor the command prompt to find where the right exe.file to replace or edit is. I am at the very basic level and would appreciate help in the steps to get to the location to find the corret switch using the fixes from previous threads.

There's no doubt you'll be able to run on 8.1 as the previous versions. Best of luck!!

I have already read and made notes of the answer to the problem on this thread for windows 8.1. My real problem is I don't know how to get to the place where I can make the changes! I am a computer user not a techie and require some guidance, using windows 8.1 to get to the write location to make the changes mentioned in these threads. I read that you go to the WITPAE icon in the file and right click and go to propertise but i don't see anywhere to edit the target file line as I don't get a command prompt or see and file lines.

Bif1961 Here's what you need to do.

1. Go into the Matrix WITP file and find the icon titled "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition" Application File (4768KB). Not the icon with "autorun"
2. Right click on this icon and pin it to the start bar.
3. Go to the start bar (at the bottom of the screen and right click on the icon. A box will pop up with an icon and War in The Pacific Admiral's Edition (Quick Start). Right click on this icon.
4. A box will appear; left click on "properties".
5. A box will appear. ON the tab page "Shortcut", you will see a box that says "Target"
6. Type the following exactly as you see it into the "Target" box and hit enter.

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -archive -wd -deepColor -px1366 -py768 -fixedArt -noFire -SingleCpuOrder -cpu3

7. Leave the icon pinned to the start bar and use the pinned Icon to play the game. This icon will take you directly to the load process and skip the game menu with the Editor, update and forum links. If you want to do any of those things use the icon on the desktop instead of the pinned icon. You can edit a scenario, etc. Just save it as normal and then use the pinned icon to take you into the game when you go to play.

8. You can change the shortcuts you typed in the target box based on what you read in the other blog string to get the game to appear exactly as you want it, just make sure you use the dash with a space in-front of it. Also use the quotation marks as you see above.
