In harpoon you used to be able to allocate a patrol mission to a particular area of a naval groups 360 area. Is there a way to do this in this game or do you have to set up a mission with reference points.

Ideally I just want to launch an AEW or ASW helicopter and get them to hover above the group and doing their thing

Make some reference points - then make them relative or fixed to a specific unit or group - with the Mission menu....
