The supreme soviet presidium has decided to ally the Soviet Union with the Capitalists. The enemy of our enemy is our friend. The fascists shall not prevail, even as the leadership is deeply saddened by the soiling of our russian motherland by the filthy panzer divisions.

Coordination has started with Great Britain and France at the highest levels of military command. A crushing counter attack is on the works. The encircled army of Odessa starts a strategic retreat.

Full military mobilization in the Eastern provinces has been decreed, fearing a possible japanese incursion.

Two pockets have formed around Minsk and Sevastopol the Germans press on to the dark interiors of the Soviet Union.

The Italians take Casablanca, and press the English in the Eastern Desert.

Japan has taken Port Moresby and Palembang.

There is lessening conflict in the Japanese command structure as the Army faction finds the Emperor asking for
absolute guarantees if war with the USSR is contemplated. Even with the German successes the Soviets are powerful
and the peace with them has been productive.

The Imperial Armed Forces reduced and occupied the important resource of Balikpapan. Far, far away, Imperial Navy destroyers attacked British warships in the middle eastern waters. This illustrates the wide expanse the Japanese Military is now managing. The United States is becoming less isolationist, and war between Japan and the Soviet Union is a real possibility. The military hardware mix required to deal with war with these nations is very different. For the a war with the USA Japan requires a big navy, for war with the Soviets, armor, and a large army. Air power is a common need during war with either country. Interestingly Japan built an aircraft factory.

So much now depends on the role of the United States. Great Britain and the USSR are both struggling, the Axis is on a roll, and the only other power is the nation no one knows. Perhaps other nations intelligence services have more knowledge but Japan does not know quite what to expect from the USA. They had best enter soon if they want to fight in this war.

December 1939 Germans/Italians

The main obstacle to German victory in the East is Moscow bristling with fixed artillery and anti aircraft positions the German Generals rate its defenses very highly indeed. Work has begun on devising a plan to break the defenses and capture the Soviet Capitol.

The Wehrmacht are reinforcing the Spanish in the Iberian peninsular the Germans cannot afford a open sore as infected the French many years before, no doubt the British look for the Ghost of Wellington to rise again, the Germans intend to keep the lid on the coffin firmly in place.

The Italians cautiously probe towards the Eastern North African desert, at the same time keeping some pressure on Gibraltar.

The Japanese have declared war on the Soviets, who have been far too comfortable with our British enemies. Japan took
Vladivostok and made some progress in the West. We reduced and captured Makassar.

The attack on the Soviets was sponsored by the Japanese Army, while the Navy looks across the seas at the powerful
United States and its Navy. Delicate juggling in the High Command over priorities.

The Imperial Government wants to publicly congratulate the European Axis for the exciting gains they have made in
their campaign in the Soviet Union. We hope to take some of the burden off them as we step to the line of battle
against the Red Army.

In East and West we are advancing to probe the Soviet lines and see where their strength is.

January 1940 Germans/Italians

The Germans welcome the might of Japan and their battle hardened eastern warriors into the fight, the million or so soviet Siberian army will not be making a appearance on the eastern front to turn the tide for the Soviets.

The British remain a thorn, in North Africa and as a threat to fortress Europe. The Soviets have fought valiantly but Moscow is surrounded, they still have the industrial complex to the east of the Urals, to continue the fight.

The United States has ended isolationism, which always has an impact on a world at war. The Imperial Government
knows of no reason they would attack Japan. If this war comes it will be a hard one, for both sides. Perhaps the
United States should cultivate better relations with their southern neighbors and not yet enter the fray. In any
case the Imperial Army and Navy are prepared to defend the Empire.

We made small gains across the board this month.

Here is the road to linkage between Axis forces :

The Soviet Union is in tatters. The Supreme Soviet presidium greatly underestimated the German fascists. Their breaking of the non agression pact will be a stain long remembered among soviet minds. A secret soviet technology allows the Presidium to keep communicating with the red army although they are trapped in Moscow. The fascists retreated from the Moscow gates... the cowards. Moscow keeps fortifying itself, it is imperative that the capital does not fall into german hands.

In the eastern front the Japanese advance while the red army makes a strategic retreat.

March 4th 1940 German/Italians

Moscow fell, to much German firepower only small pockets of Soviet resistance now exist west of the Urals. With the fall of Moscow the Germans can give more attention to the British.

The British attempted a amphibious landing at Brest after a huge tactical air assault, fortunately it was repulsed.

The Germans continue to make progress in the Iberian peninsular with capture of the Portugese Capitol.

The Imperial Government congratulates the Germans and Italians on their powerful drives into the Soviet Union. Japan
is also forging ahead against the Soviets and the British. The United States has raised an total embargo against
Japan, and we expect this is a prelude to war. Our progress in Australia continues apace, and we struck Sidney with
our carrier forces. Our naval forces in the Persian Gulf had significant success.

Here is a situation map of the Middle East with the Italians and Japanese troops squeezing the British.

April 1940 Germans/Italians

The Germans try and disentangle the Divisions Corps and Armies around the captured Soviet Capitol. New objectives are allocated the various armies, some will push to The Urals the others are being withdrawn to face the threat from the West.

The Imperial Japanese Navy announces a major naval victory over the Royal Navy. Near the Persian Gulf 10 new and 8
old destroyers attacked and sank a major RN fleet. The Long Lances ruled as the enemy was devastated. We took no
losses while the enemy lost 8 cargo ships, 14 DD2, 5 DD1, 3 BB2, 1BB3, 2 CA1, and 1 BC1.

Everywhere the enemy is under pressure. Kabul fell.

Here is a map of interest :

I have not had an update in the folder since the 20th...and when I go to the website it does not show anybody else
connected. That's why I think I lost connection. If it is my turn (USA) than I am not getting the turns updated
from dropbox.
I will enter a wordpad document and if you get it let me know in dropbox.

The Japanese continue to press the British in the Middle East, and push the Soviets back a little too.

The Soviets are war weary, and have lost much of their territory to the Germans and Italians, and some to us too.

The British continue to wage war against the Axis, and there is rumbling from the Americans, who have embargoed us. This is a harsh move, unnecessary and ill advised.

Germany is impressed with Japanese advances into the Oil rich Middle East, the Italians are particularly impressed as they have soaked the North African desert in Italian blood over the last three years,
to reach these very objectives. We are hoping to eventually receive some kind of diplomatic exchange over these delicate matters,
after all the Middle East is not the Far East its is not even the East.

The Imperial Government has contacted multiple diplomats about the current state of affairs.

We expect the Axis nations will work the current issues out and our enemies should take no comfort in the appearance of some small discussion points in our strong partnership.

The Imperial Government has agreed to pull back in the Middle East. The British are advised that we will continue to engage any units who press forward too quickly.

The United States is generous with unwanted advice about the Japanese conduct of the war.

Japan will follow its own course.

19 Aug 1940

Japan attacked Colombo with a landing, after reducing it by air attack.

Not quite successful, but one must admire the perseverance!

quote:

IMPERIAL RESCRIPT

By the grace of Heaven, Emperor of Japan, seated on the throne occupied by the same dynasty from time immemorial, enjoin upon ye, Our loyal and brave subjects:

We hereby declare War on the United States of America. The men and officers of Our Army and Navy shall do their utmost in prosecuting the war. Our public servants of various departments shall perform faithfully and diligently their respective duties; the entire nation with a united will shall mobilize their total strength so that nothing will miscarry in the attainment of Our war aims.

To ensure the stability of East Asia and to contribute to world peace is the far-sighted policy which was formulated by Our Great Illustrious Imperial Grandsire and Our Great Imperial Sire succeeding Him, and which We lay constantly to heart. To cultivate friendship among nations and to enjoy prosperity in common with all nations, has always been the guiding principle of Our Empire's foreign policy. It has been truly unavoidable and far from Our wishes that Our Empire has been brought to cross swords with America. More than four years have passed since China, failing to comprehend the true intentions of Our Empire, and recklessly courting trouble, disturbed the peace of East Asia and compelled Our Empire to take up arms. America, inducing other countries to follow suit, increased military preparations on all sides of Our Empire to challenge Us. They have obstructed by every means Our peaceful commerce and finally resorted to a direct severance of economic relations, menacing gravely the existence of Our Empire. Patiently have We waited and long have We endured, in the hope that Our government might retrieve the situation in peace. But Our adversaries, showing not the least spirit of conciliation, have unduly delayed a settlement; and in the meantime they have intensified the economic and political pressure to compel thereby Our Empire to submission. This trend of affairs, would, if left unchecked, not only nullify Our Empire's efforts of many years for the sake of the stabilization of East Asia, but also endanger the very existence of Our nation. The situation being such as it is, Our Empire, for its existence and self-defense has no other recourse but to appeal to arms and to crush every obstacle in its path.

The hallowed spirits of Our Imperial Ancestors guarding Us from above, We rely upon the loyalty and courage of Our subjects in Our confident expectation that the task bequeathed by Our forefathers will be carried forward and that the sources of evil will be speedily eradicated and an enduring peace immutably established in East Asia, preserving thereby the glory of Our Empire.

In witness whereof, we have hereunto set our hand and caused the Grand Seal of the Empire to be affixed at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo, this seventh day of the 12th month of the 15th year of Shôwa, corresponding to the 2,602nd year from the accession to the throne of Emperor Jimmu.

Imperial Japan, with full confidence in its people has begun to throw the Americans out of the Western Pacific.

The Battle of Midway has been fought.

Aircraft within range struck to good effect. An amphibious assault followed, and the island was taken. No USN aircraft carriers were spotted, but they may take up the challenge of the lost base, and come out to do battle.

Tarawa was also occupied.

Thanks Chuck I wasn't going to claim victory after all you could have contested Persia, while pushing for Japanese victory conditions in Australia. So its pretty much even Stephen on the victory front, also I seem to remember you wanted to continue the war with the US to its conclusion ? I am happy to continue if everyone is of the same mind.

If the consensus is to call the game now, Thanks to Falco Louis Juergen Larry and not least Chuck and his rampant Japanese for a well contested game
