Looking at that superb map of Spain draws my thoughts to a Spanish Civil War scenario! I would be willing to pay $30.00 for a DLC with such a scenario in it!

I have to admit ignorance re the Spanish Civil War. I don't know if any of our current data guys are up on it either. Would there be campaigns or shorter scenarios where there are armies marching across Spain that would make sense at this scale.

Most of the Spanish Civil War campaigns were fairly conventional after the initial few months and resembled a more mobile version of World War I. The War could be divided easily into campaigns:

1. The War of the mobile columns: July 1936-February 1937.

2. The War in the North against the Basque Republic: March-June 1937.

3. July-February 1938: The Republican offensives against Saragossa and Teruel. The Nationalist offensive into Aragon.

4. March-April 1938: Aragon offensive that ended in the Nationalists reaching the Mediterranean and splitting the Republic.

5. July-November 1938: Huge Republican counteroffensive in the battle of the Ebro. The Republican defeat sealed the fate of the Republic.

6. January-February 1939: Catalonia offensive leading to the fall of Barcelona to the Nationalists.

7. March 1939: Ending of the War with an officer's coup in the Republic leading to the surrender of Madrid.

A good Europa game on the subject is For Whom the Bell Tolls which is at an operational level similar to East Front and West Front.

Don't forget that early war was fought in large part between militias of both sides - especially CNT-FAI and POUM on the Republican side and various Falange and Carlistas on the side of fascits. Proffessionalism came first on the side of fascists and later, after May Days especially, the Republic tried to imitate francoists, creating better forces.

Interesting. It would probably take finding one or more people that know the subject and are interested in working with the editor to develop the required data.

I am willing to help, I believe I have some books about SCW in my storage, including some OOBs of the International Brigades.

As to the SCW: the game would not make much sense without the anarcho-communist split that led to a small civil war inside the civil war in Spain. Then the player should have a choice - to side with anarchists/POUM or the government. My questions are - can the game simulate some kind of events and 3 sides of conflict? As far as I know, there are only 2 right now.

Oh yes. I have every strategic game on the Spanish Civil War published in English, not that there are that many. A fascinating period that has been sadly neglected in wargames, both board and computer.

I enjoyed it as I have enjoyed all AGEOD games. I did think it was a trifle underdeveloped however and could have used more specialized rules to enhance the atmosphere of the Spanish Civil War.

Spanish Civil War DLC would be amazing, but it would be a huge amount of work!
Just having a start date with more or less historical forces and the same engine as in WitW really wouldn't do it any justice.
