and when i say simple i mean simple, as no manual so kind of think of this as a bit of both, a guide, manual and after action report all in one solution for something that many will just pass as they think it wont be for them, it's a hidden Gem like panzer corps in some ways and not like it in others, if you liked the first one or didn't see it, as i have both and liked them both tbh, its a different setup regarding battle place, but also for me the scope has changed has well...

i found or had no issues with the first game, mind you a few ipad owners did, but that has been patched, but i'm guessing most didn't either see it or grab it as posting or info on this game is really lacking, seems it hasn't been pushed at all, like the first one and just left on it own to makes it's mark, no fan fair etc

which is a shame

so either support the developers or move along thanks, it's £3.00 in the sale, so don't expect to see WITW shots either

and now onto the game play, i will give my self more resources as atm those on offer are a bit tight at 3100 for this level so i cheat and add some more, then at least i can show you around the battle a bit easier and do more stuff that you will see later when you play it, or not if this puts you off

this is the default game view and level of zoom, as it's set in the middle of the zoom level, so can be zoomed in to a single unit if you wish to go down a bit more, but then tbh you don't see much of the map so i hardly use that last level of zoom and stick with this one...

oh and notice or not, hide the fact that i have cheated and now got 9100 resource to spend

selecting the resources menu lets you buy units to add to your battle, but get delivered straight away but can't be moved until next turn, air power happens straight away and that sends a fighter bomber over to rocket or bomb what every is selected, and so far always hits the target, but on D day you had air superiority any way so that's fine

i didn't capture it but it's just started to light rain as well

i have selected the air strike from the resources menu and now will go see what target to strafe or bomb

those concrete bunkers look like they may cause me some trouble so i send one plane in to them from now

the bomb icons are what we can go for, as we can't target out own troops, i've tried, so i select a bunker and off on the mission the air unit goes and i see it fly in and do it's stuff

ah well i clicked to late and almost missed the plane, but you get the picture, you see it fly in and attack what ever you just selected, does some damage but will need another attack maybe or more to destroy it...

next attack goes in better and now the concrete bunker is showing signs of damage

or will do on the next screen, also notice the resources are going down as each attack uses 100 resources so you can't just bomb the beach back to the stone age either, or you run out of resources

now the concrete bunker is showing signs of damage, with being happier that i captured the place in the shot better, i now move on

i can either send in more planes and make it easier for the troops on the beach or let them finish off the smoking damaged bunker themselves, either way it's a easier target for them now...

your choice as it's your game, as you can just send in more troops with your resources but then you run the risk of having supply problems as well with too many units on the ground, as they all use fuel and ammo and need to be resupplied...

any way i move onto the next bit and move some units onto the beach, some will land first turn, some will need another turn as are too far away

i select the nearest landing craft, i could have selected any tbh but these were at the tops so i just did this, once selected it shows me 2 things, one what's in the craft and 2, how far it can move this turn, and i see it can place the units inside on the beach so select it and do the move which will end the turn for this units with all it's movements points now gone/ spent etc

now the flamethrower unit has been landed where i want it, i move onto one that's further out so it wont land this turn

you see the animation of the unit moving through the water, it doesn't just appear on the beach either, but that's for video not a screen shot to show

same again i select another unit and prepare to move it, this time a tank, a funny as they was called, a swimming Sherman

as you can clearly see it won't make the beach as it's too far out this turn, but can move in any direction into any of the hexes shown.

i now land all my forces and move onto the next bit of this little demo...

oh wait a minute, i forgot, as i was landing some engineers they spotted some mines on the beach in front of them, only this unit can spot and clear them, other units only find them by walking over them the hard way, also they spot a remote controlled tank on the beach called a Goliath, which any unit can shoot at and destroy hopefully before it move next to your units and blows itself and your unit up that is...

engineers can only clear mines next to them, so you have to spend some time moving them around a bit, while you try and protect them from enemy fire

a hit and it's gone

one less thing to worry about as i go about moving the rest of my units a shore, also you can see the unit that fired is now also in red, seems they don't like to walk into barbed wire and sometimes take damage or suffer morale loss for it, same as mines these all add up to attrition that will in the end fatigue your troops so they will need to be either healed, rested or left for a turn or resupplied ...

Excellent mini-guide, zakblood! Well done.

Apparently, the iPad version is still not fixed. The guy who owns the iPad version confirmed that there is no iPad patch to fix the Leningrad bug where the mission will not continue. Please see this thread.

So, buyer beware with this company

sorry its not, hope they see this and fix it for you as it's a shame as its not a half bad game on the pc, with some hidden depth, was going to do a follow on but wont unless others want it or buy it, as it's not for my benefit

with some beach defences destroyed and all my units out of moves i end my turn and let the other side make its moves

remember i'm using a quick play so you will be attacked and get loses, while i have a cake walk, but it's just for a show or demo like so you can see what happens, not how badly i am at playing

the other side has gone, and now it is again our turn to move, i move my engineers towards some mines and remove the ones seen to clear a path

left click where the arrow points and that's one less mine to worry about

one of my units have walked into a mine field and taken damage

as you can see in the top left corner is a unit with a first aid man in it, next turn as they have just moved i use them to heal the unit in the minefield.

i'll quickly move the rest of the troops ashore then end turn so i can show the next unit to use

the move goes well, i'm next to the bunker now and the combat odds look like i will destroy it in one go, as long as i don't miss, which does happen

as you can see most units have different weapon for different tasks, all have basic options, and can be healed or repaired if a none human unit, then all units can be resupplied with ammo and fuel, so plenty to do and this ends the basic guide to the game...

next if needed is the intermediate guide for more options and commands, once mastered then the advanced guide can be done, if enough want it, have bought it, and are playing it...

like i've said before, it's a simple to get to grips with game, with some hidden depth and plenty of options for the casual gamer, or first time player, for the more advanced of you, then ramp up the difficulty and don't cheat like i am

and enjoy what is a good little game

so now a few turns on, we learn how to repair and re supply units, that are either damaged or need supplies

this now comes under the heading of an intermediate guide for the game, as you can see i click on my supply truck and i have to options, supply or reinforce / repair and the units in my range i can give the help to, which is atm 3 units, once used they will be repaired or re supplied but wont be able to move again this turn

now we move onto advanced attacks

as you can see the single unit attack wont take the town from the damaged unit defending it, from the combat odds displayed, remember this is a guide not what will or could happen, as you can miss and not do any hits at all

now with support the attacks goes in, and in the German round they also fired and got return fire so lost one point, so support wasn't needed anyway but always makes the combat odds better

so i attack and take the town, my first base on the coast to be taken

i take the town with one of my funny tanks, Sherman's in skirts so they could swim ashore, most sank like lead balloons tbh

notice also from the town being taken my resources have also gone up, with each town taken, i get more supply....

which i'll need as my tank ran over some mines coming into it

more work for the mind clearer's
