I wonder if someone will try an all-Med strategy once PBEMs are in full swing. I am still learning this game, but a first glance at Provence looks like an "Overlord" in Southern France (i.e. the main landing in 1944), would be pretty tough. The only ports in the south of France are Marseilles, Toulon, and Nice. All are flanked by rough terrain, with limited beaches to land at. Even if you get ashore, the terrain would make it easier for the Germans to establish a defensive perimeter than in Northern France. The beaches in Languedoc are pretty open, but there is not a single port, and nearest is Marseilles....way too far. "Dragoon" worked only because the Germans had stripped 19th Army, and the front in France was collapsing anyway That's my take on it, am I on track?
