Okie dokie.......I've received some moves from Tom and this is what Manila looks like now. It's just a matter of time now.

Here's what the south China area looks like now. The Japs have rounded up most of the Chinese already.

Here's what Rangoon looks like now. Tom is defeating all the British and Indian units. There's nothing much to prevent Tom
from driving into Burma and India now.

Tom has landed some troops in Java. So southern Borneo and Java are next I guess. I'm thinking that Tom will invade OZ
eventually.

Here's the Rabaul area now. Tom has moved a great deal of fighters into this area. Port Moresby is probably one of Tom's
goals.

The screenshots for T12 were skipped somehow. Sorry about that. Now, T13, has seen a change of occupancy in the city of
Manila. There goes supply for the Allies. It's all downhill for all the Allies on the island. If I disband them can we count that as
them surrendering? I don't remember the house rule about disbanding units. I'll hold off on that.

There is a suggestion in the scenario briefing regarding disbanding units. It is suggested that not be done if the units can not retreat normally because the Japanese player in particular would disband all their cut off units on the map and then their equippment would show up in Japan as replaced units to defend the homeland. That would not be realistic at all.

In this case in the Philippines, it is not a problem since supply has been eliminated. Without being in supply the game engine does not allow a unit to disband. However, if you have units clearly in your rear like in Austrailia, Hawaiian Islands, eastern India or other safe places it is perfectly fine. I guess you could designate certain places to have the units ship there for disbanding. Just having the players use commons sense to disband when reasonable is perfectly fine. That seems to work best.

I was curious about how many CV's the Lexington has lost ( 1 CV ) and I happened to notice that the ship itself has a deployment
box on it. I clicked on the "mobile" button and another display opens for me to chose Tactical Reserve or Local Reserve etc.. I'm
wondering what went wrong to cause this. I was curious to know what happens if I assign a a reserve stance but didn't try it.

I have never indicated anything but mobile for a ship. I have seen on rare occasions an air strike from a carrier in response to an enemy action. Maybe that was it. Maybe the unit was on a reserve status and moved in response to something. Tests can be done on that certainly. But for me, I rarely put even ground units on reserve status because then I am out of control. The reserve unit or ship may move into a very lopsided or dangerous position that you would not want. It still may be an option however. Maybe a destroyer group at Rabaul on reserve might respond to an attack nearby.

It would be great if an aircraft bombing unit would respond like that if some ships entered their combat reserve zone. Be sure to have some fighters nearby to help!

That's a great idea. May I suggest you suggest this to Bob Cross? He would be the one to make it happen.

The Japs have been staging landings at Ceylon since last night and so far my boys are holding. Jap paratroops captured one of the
airfields on the island and there's been a mass movement of Jap airpower into the field. There's nothing on the island to resist
the invaders besides the small garrison unit that was tasked with the safety of the island. I predict that the city will fall soon.

And here's T16's shot of the Japs in full control of the island of Ceylon. I'm guessing they will be gunning for the mainland next. I've
shipped in some pathetically tired troops, both British and Indian but they aren't in any shape to fight and they are too small to make
a proper garrison for this situation. It's looking grim. I may have to start shipping those Chinese reinforcements to this AO.

My troops could storm in there but that would cause losses. I prefer to take the time to allow the Bataan defenders to become extremely weak. The same in China. Even when the allies are low in supply I still take losses. The Marine unit seems to stay at a 4. I want him smaller. The partisans are worse. They are invisible and seem to always be underfoot.

So um......the Japs sneaked across the river with the aid of some engineers and tried to outflank my front lines. I managed to
find enough troops to man the line but they are weak and tired and almost out of supply and aren't going to hold back a
determined attacker very long.

Here's a zoomed out view of the south China situation now. Also, the Japs have been making progress in that they have cleared
out the middle and now the fight has resolved into two different groups. The western group is protecting India and Burma. The
eastern group is going to be mopped up any turn now. I've dropped a lot of bridges between north China and south China so the
railroad is going to be out of order for a long time to come. Unless his engineers work better than my CB's.

is getting out of hand.

This is the Phillippines now. It's down to just Bataan and the southern tip of the main island. And the partisans. I've captured the
two coastal airfields in the northwest but the Japs are just about to take them back.

This image is to show all the blown bridges between the north China area and the middle and south China areas. This ought to slow
down the passage of troops somewhat. He'll have to float all his troops south and even though he has more shipping than the
Allies his shipping is finite.

Boy, I sure kicked over a hornet's nest with that move. The Japs decided to contest my landings and brought in all kinds of
planes and ships and if you compare this image with the one above you'll notice that there's a bunch of Allied ships missing
and the Japs took back New Georgia. D'oh. I can't afford to lose a bunch of ships right now so I guess I'll retreat.

Here's the Ledo road now. The Japs are adopting a three prong probe for their advance. I'm getting reinforcements spawning in
India that I can rail to the front. A little rest and they are as good as new.

I just now happened to notice that a hex advance by the Japs has cut off supply to units south and I needed to move a unit
into the hex to allow the flow of supply. If it will. Otherwise I'll have to pull out of the Rangoon area.

I finally received the 1st Marine Division and it's my understanding that they were introduced to the Pacific War by their
deployment to Guadacanal so of course I had to sail them there. My invasion of New Georgia saw the loss of a good
division and the loss of lots of ships and many planes and I don't have anything to show for it. D'oh. I've got to withdraw
the ships and let them rest and refit before I get into another knife fight. I lost a lot of spotter planes too and I'm guessing
that when you assign a stack of ships to bombard something adjacent that the spotter planes get assigned to the attack
too and so they are liable to the attack results. Or something.

I would retreat even from Guadalcanal. I think the marines might be next to be fed to the Imperial dragon, if they are not removed.

Like MacArthur, you will return later; just not now.

Yeah, but then I'd just have to take it again sometime in the future. Besides they serve as a road bump when the Japs
start their drive south.

I was checking out how many Repulse class BC's there were left ( 0 ) and I just happened to notice that there are 0 F4F's assigned
and plenty on hand and we're making them at a significant rate. And I just happened to know that there were Wildcat's assigned
to VMF-211 at Wake, 12 of them. So I can't begin to imagine what went wrong to make the Wildcats not show up in the inventory.
It would take a scenario designer or a computer programmer or something to begin to explain that one. Maybe the names don't
match exactly or something easy like that.
