Here is a screenie of one of the Russian rocket units. I believe the "number of rockets" refers to the truck launchers, not the individual tubes. I think each Katyusha launcher carried something like 20 tubes.

EDIT: Here is a quote from www.militaryhistorynow.com :

Originally designed as a cheap ad hoc alternative to conventional artillery, the truck-mounted 132-mm Katyusha launcher could fire as many as four-dozen warheads distances of more than six miles (9 km) in a single ten-second burst. While woefully inaccurate when compared to ordinary howitzers, concentrations of Katyushas could shower vast areas with a dense hail of high explosives and then speed to safety before enemy guns could even get a fix on them

I found some of them in the Guards Mortar Rgt. Most of the guns are howitzers and some assault tanks in there as well.

Singapore August 1944

He has quite a few units in the southern part of malaya near Singapore and it will take some time to defeat them. The northern area is a mop up right now.

I recently dropped paratroopers into Kwangchowan and Kingusan and am invading the Chinese mainland. Hong Kong is a big source of supply for him and I will need to reduce it shortly. Carriers finish upgrading in 2 days at Manila. Pescadores, Amoy and Swatow are lightly defended so I will likely assault these areas first then decide whether to take on Formosa or bypass it.

Certainly Formosa could be bypassed but let me suggest that your opponent is going to get a lot more excited once
you drop in to visit these locations. Formosa offers multiple bases .. and more so takes bases away that he could
execute a sudden backdoor attack .. One problem is if you have not prepared units to take Formosa .. it might be
better to attack the locations they are prepared for and stick to your plan given time ..

That said My thought looking at this is to take Formosa .. The bases can launch 2E's/4E's to help cross at Anking with bases
in China providing fighter support ... then launch every armor unit through the plains from Anking
on .. I might suggest that IJ supply will be critical and units will cut through like butter all the way to Fusan

It is a bloodbath!!!

4 bombardment task forces ride in to attack Takao and Kagi and there are massive plane disablements and losses.

Considering the combats were post-bombardment with your ships low on ammo, they did pretty good!

I was planning on them running into those task forces before they bombarded but it is what it is. I also managed to bounce a few 1000# bombs off the battleships and put one through a heavy cruiser.

Along with amazing positioning that got most of my ships under aircraft cover, I did not even take one kamakazi hit. There was not a huge presence of planes after those bombardments and subsequent airfield attacks on Takao but I did manage to knock down about 4 inbound flights.

I think I did really well and achieved a few objectives.

Still waiting on the turn file.

Here is a shot of the air combat losses and the area of sea that the combat took place in. The ships southwest of Swatow are a Japanese cruiser group that did not engage in combat last turn. My ships orders were to bombard and then return to Swatow. That was sucessful. Now I have 4-5 badly damaged battleships at that location.

I decided that NJP would likely target those damaged battleships one way or another. The worst has 42 flotation damage. The group can move at 3/1 per day. I am taking a big gamble and moving all of them now. Their course is one hex directly west and then 3 hexes southwest.

There is a cruiser group there that is depleted and a group of 2 battleships in the same condition. I am sending those on the same path as the damaged battleships but letting them go the distance so they should be near Manila tomorrow. Finally, I broke off a DD group with almost full ammo to move directly southwest into the cruiser group to hopefully slow it down and/or divert it from attacking the other groups.

I have a group of CVE's that were to protect Swatow and did so admirably. There are about 5 of them which will follow the damaged BB's along their course.

Below all this I have quite a few smaller groups of DD's, CL's and CA's. My one group of 4 CA's will move directly to the damaged BB's. The rest of the groups will follow a course west to meet in the hex with the damaged BB's.

My 3CV groups are next to Takao and there are quite a few smaller Japanese STF's at Pescadores. I plan on doing a hook with these groups and moving them southwest then west and finally northwest to directly cover the damaged battleships. There is a CL STF with the CV groups that will move directly northeast to attempt to intercept any forces trying to get to the carriers.

The Japanese ships in deep water near Pescadores are the remains of at least one of his STF forces and some E'boats.

With luck at the end of this turn most of the American fleet should be sitting southwest of Swatow and well protected from anything but a large strike. If everything goes wrong then I will probably lose a battleship or four...

I didnt show the entire turn so it is not a good representation. After the bombardments most of my bombers flew in and flattened what was left of the Takao airport.

It went from level 8 to 100% closed that turn.

Most likely op losses are high because he has been sending out fighters at extreme range. Any damage at all and they likely do not make it back to base. Allied planes are much tougher and have a decent chance of getting back with damage.

NJP LOVES to do CAP traps with ships out in the ocean at 4-6 hexes away from target. It costs him a lot along with wider CAP zones.

I just tried to overwhelm him near Takao and ran into the rest of his battleship fleets. I lost a slow BB, the british BC and a heavy cruiser along with getting another heavy cruiser pummled. I am not sure if I sank anything of significance on the Japanese side.

NJP puts a nice stab into my naval guts. He takes out some APA's and irreplaceable DMS's. He had the upper hand until the air phase of the turn.

That is a collage of 6 separate attacks.

The 2 e's died instantly. It was his 2 other STF's composed of 2 CA's and DD's and a group of 2 CL's and dd's that did all the damage.

Fortunately for me they used up all their movement points and were sitting ducks the next morning. NJP lost 2 CL's and 3 CA's although I am not really sure about one of the CL's.
