Any advice on where to interdict IJN shipping??

Everywhere!

When I play Japan, the fuel from Balikpapan and Tarakan (I would send 2 to 4 subs to patrol the straits between the two bases) goes to Babeldoab (some players use Davao) and eventually over to Truk. So, I have Allied subs in Patrol Zones starting 3 to 6 hexes away from Truk and running about 6 to 10 hexes. Four subs to north in parallel paths, 4 to 6 subs to west, 4 to 6 subs between Truk and Rabaul. Next will be 6 to 10 subs running in SE to NW paths off the northern coast of NG to see if shipping is coming directly into Rabaul. On the map, the words, "Philippine Sea" sees two subs patrolling DIRECTLY on the word "Sea." This will get TFs go to and from Babeldoab to Japan.

Remember, stay out of shallow sea hexes.

some welcome news,

There is no battle of the Santa Cruz Islands with the giant IJN BBs, they vanish in the evening.

Who is going in first:
4th Marines under dubious leadership (no decent regimental leaders in the pools)
I-Corp (Gen Peck, best I could do)
support

**I believe Tulagi to be defended by:
81st Naval Guards
Majuro Base force

Anyone know their AV and Exp levels??

I would have moved three Command HQs - North, Central, and South to be close enough to influence these coming invasions. Pair them with a Corp/Army HQ to enable the 90% adjusted AV bonus when both pass the die rolls. Did you??

yeah yeah "da plan"

NY: No, this is task1, I was hoping the defense was weak on Tulagi, The big COs are just meeting up with their AGCs for something "a little bigger".

To prevent evac by air, you need to place LRCAP over the base. During the "Air Transport phase" you will not see any A2A action, but those transports will show up in the Air Losses list. I forget the formula for how far from your base you can do this, but P-38s are best when the distance starts to grow, especially with drop tanks.

Suggestion #1 - I would take time and look through all your CLs to BB to see which ones have poor night experience. Form some Bombardment (BB) TFs and use bases like Ndeni for target practice to increase it so you lessen your fear of night engagements that most Allied players have against Japan. Your '42 Fletchers are great ships, but their crew experience needs to be improved. Check them, too.

Suggestion #2 - I often place my pre-war American DDs within my CV TFs. As they come in, I put a DesRon of 4 Bristol Class DDs in each of these TFs. They are solid in AA and ASW.

Can he used air evacuation through heavily damaged or closed airfields? How many of those sub transports does he have? Those sneaky
little YUs or something are like fleas on a stray.

You don't evacuate medium artillery by air or sub. He must have used ships, or they died by attrition and you did not notice the message at the end of the combat reports.

My understanding is yes, "IF" he is using patrol planes (Mavis and Emily) that are actually using the port to evac troops.

I had not thought of the float planes....taking action after the Munda landing. Any guesses at good LRCAP ALTs to try?

I would use 9k for your LRCAP. He may try to go in low (6k or lower) to pick up troops.

advice taken, most land based fighter support will stand down 24 hours, then a dedicated LRCAP over Guadalcanal. He may even be flying in supplies at night.

The war finally widens..
The IJA base at Munda falls today. The surviving IJ troops scatter into the jungle.
1st USMC division will attack again tomorrow, hoping to reduce the forts or possibly force the defenders on western Guadalcanal over to Lunga Point.

The evening was quiet. Over Tarawa yesterday we spotted a bunch of a/c. The field showed 100% damage yet a bunch of a/c. Hellcats visit and tear
up a dozen N1K1 Rex over the atoll. CAP trap for my free wheeling bombers? Rangoon is a different story as over 100 P47s can only eke out a 2:1 edge
over the couple of hundred Franks there. I did slip in some Libs late and get a couple more on the ground. It was perfectly coordinated but not nearly
strong enough. On Munda the army chases the IJA further into the jungles; they will have another go at them tomorrow. On Guadalcanal the 1st Marines
throw the defenders off Tassaforonga over to Lunga Point. The wheels are turning. A point to keep in mind, the IJN is intact.
