Keep in mind that the Monsoon runs from about July to end of October, IIRC (I looked in both printed and PDF manuals and there is no mention of it).
Other AARs have mentioned that it puts a crimp in their supply stream and ability to move troops in Burma.

point taken. It is a bear now as I have four US divisions, reinforced with armor in Burma as well as large Indian, Aussie, and British forces. Good news, more fighters are arriving in the next three weeks to give me three US groups along with a reconstituted heavy and medium bombing groups.

**station break**

questions: When do drop tanks become available for the land based Corsair? (I think its August '43)
Is this type of info available in the editor? Tried to find it....

I thought the first mark of non-carrier-capable Corsair was without drop tanks but subsequent marks are carrier-capable and can carry DTs. Just look in the upgrade path for the Mark 1s to see when the next mark is available, and right click on the text to see if the aircraft details include drop tanks.

OT - Connie would be booed off of South Beach for having an oversized thong ... and her shoes would get stuck in the sand.

AFAIK, the greyed out "drop tanks unavailable" just means the base does not have enough supply. You could be right - that there is a magic date for DTs to be available, but there are no pools for DTs - they just come out of supply when you use them.

zuluhour,

1. The monsoon season is 15 May - 15 October.

2. A greyed out "drop tank" means they are not available for any reason be it lack of supply at the base or the activation date for the drop tank has not yet occurred.

3. The activation date for a drop tank is found in the editor in the aircraft section.

4. The non carrier capable Corsair does get a drop tank.

5. In scenario 1 the activation date for the drop tank for the non carrier capable Corsair is October 1943.

Thank you Alfred - I had no idea that the editor was the place to get such info.

The art of amphibious assault takes some time and effort as an Allied player. So many little things to worry about...ASW TF, SC TF, BB TF, AKAs with just supplies, CV TF. A year from now this will be easier, but it is easy to forget something that could cost you ships and men as Japan's sting can still be lethal at this stage.

You can invade in many places successfully, but what can you do a month afterwards if Japan wants to use KB and Company to contest?? For me, lots of CVEs with just fighters to make it more expensive for Japan.

Hellcat and Fletcher power!!

Good luck and happy hunting!!

Yes, the planning is everything. Co-ordination must be maximized to reduce the risk of catastrophes now.

Nice to see the first signs of the steamroller getting in motion!

Has the admiral devised a counter-trap for the Ocean Island area? Like maybe form an empty Amphib TF and dangle it near Ocean Island when your carriers are in the area?

Absolutely! I have ten days of work in SoPac, mopping up I hope, and I am going to try and bait him up north. I want him to think Tarawa, but Ocean is OK to.
I would rather have him hiding in the Marshalls than the Gilberts if possible, we'll see.

Building Up Portland Roads is important for whatever your plans are going to be. It puts Port Moresby and Horn Island in range of BB TFs and medium bombers preceded by P-38 sweeps. I used it to base those old, slow BBs to bomb Horn into dust. Great for increasing night experience for warships.

Playing DBB newer air data from the start for the first time. Early war Allied air models are not all that bad. P-38s have speed and altitude going for them and the Hurricane IIc have those nasty 20mm cannons. In previous game, we switched to new data on Jan 1st '43. The T-Birds are truly nasty planes against anything.

Fantastic result!
In the side pic it looks like they had to cut the tips off the elephant's tusks so it wouldn't puncture the plane!
