This is going to be an ambitious thread. In it I will be posting ship art for all the world's navies in WW2. I will primarily be using Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1922-1946 for reference as well as any web sources needed. All ship art will be official WitP scale meaning Length Overall x .165 + 45 (pixels). [NOTE: Except for submarines I'm not sure what the scale is for WitP as it appears to be different than other ships.]

The purpose of this thread is to provide modders with a complete catalog of WitP compatible ship art for virtually every possible scenario. Each navy will include both real life ships as well as various never were ships which were projected but never built or never completed. The art should blend in relatively seamlessly with existing WitP/AE art, therefore I will NOT be doing the RL Japanese, US or Commonwealth fleets (at least not what is already present in the game). Rather this thread will contain pretty much all other ships from just about every other navy.

I will use the OP to point to different posts within this thread where I have posted ship art files. By referring to the links in the OP it should be easy to find the files you want.

I am allowed a maximum of one (1) Megabyte per file attachment per post. Fortunately 1 MB should be enough to post an entire navy within a single zip file. If anything larger is required it may get posted in two or more parts.

[NOTE: Most ships will be dramatically altered and touched up cut and paste jobs of original WITP/AE art, therefore a note of gratitude is necessary to JWE, Big B and TOMLABEL who put together the original AE art.]

France - Marine Nationale: see post #2 below for file attachment http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=3785088
Germany - Kriegsmarine (part I): See post #6 below for file attachment http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=3786122
Germany - Kriegsmarine (part II): See post #7 below for file attachment http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=3786123
Italy - Regia Marina (Part I): see post #14 below for file attachment http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=3788257
Italy - Regia Marina (Part II): see post #15 below for file attachment http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=3788260

Below is a running preview of what I have files for so far.

You're welcome Herrbear. Almost finished with the Germans also. I already had the capital ships done from the mod I was working on. Had to redo most of the cruisers, though, because the ones I had for my mod were mostly completely fictitious. My intent for this thread is to feature only RL ships and some of the never were types that made it through design but didn't make it to commission.

Nice work. Are you planning on doing the minor navies? I'm particularly thinking of the South American navies, especially Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.

IMPORTANT NOTICE BELOW:

As of today and now (see time stamp on this post) I went back and repackaged the Kriegsmarine and Regia Marina packs posted above. If you downloaded these packs before now please discard the old downloads and re download the new ones as the new packs have some changes and a few additions which weren't in the older packs. I deleted the old packs and posted the new to the same posts so it's just a matter of going back up to post #s 6, 7, 14 and 15 and DLing again.

Instead of tacking on more addendums I decided to repackage the originals. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Gary: Do you plan to work on more of the 'what ifs' from this time? If so, I would love to see my CAV/CLVs worked on some more.

US: Designs are pretty easy to find with these.
Jpn: The CAV--pre-Soryu.
Commonwealth: Based off an Exeter Bow and two turrets up front.

Would also love what they would 'look' like after conversion to regular CV.

If this is a pain then I thoroughly understand.

LOVE your work with the Germans and Italians!

Well this is a pleasant surprise. Having lost all my old data on my old computer I thought I would sit down today and see if I can find anything; and I find this this. Gary once again your stuff here is awesome. Do you have a time table for this ambitious project?

I'm trying to come up with a list of Royal Navy ships that are not included in Stock AE so that I can make sides for them.

So far I have sides for:

BB Lion class
BB Malaya
BC Tiger
BC G3 class
BB N3 class
AV Albatros

I also have a few sides which Big B has done which I'd like to add to the grab bag and I have inquired with Big B for permission to add them.

BB Malaya
BC Hood
CV Ark Royal
CV Furious
CV Eagle

Can anyone think of some other Royal Navy warships which are not included in Stock AE?
