The hot reception from the defenders becomes a deadly hot reception. Japanese Shock attack at Addu Attacking force 2699 troops, 19 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 96 Defending force 2366 troops, 26 guns, 4 vehicles, Assault Value = 48 Japanese adjusted assault: 18 Allied adjusted defense: 34 Japanese assault odds: 1 to 2 (fort level 4) Combat modifiers Defender: forts(+), disruption(-), fatigue(-), experience(-) Attacker: shock(+), supply(-) Japanese ground losses: 1690 casualties reported Squads: 65 destroyed, 23 disabled Non Combat: 17 destroyed, 17 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled Guns lost 6 (6 destroyed, 0 disabled) Allied ground losses: 191 casualties reported Squads: 0 destroyed, 19 disabled Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 3 disabled Engineers: 2 destroyed, 6 disabled Guns lost 3 (1 destroyed, 2 disabled) Assaulting units: II/143rd Infantry Battalion I/143rd Infantry Battalion III/143rd Infantry Battalion Defending units: 2/2 AIF Pioneer Battalion Addu RN Base Force II/143rd Infantry Battalion is decimated. Not a single combat soldier is left alive (not a single disable squad out of the lot) and a few support squads is all that remain. I guess the high number of disablements coming ashore is going to wreck the party when you have to front up for an immediate shock attack against level 4 forts (they came as a nasty shock and a good lesson about becoming too complacent. The battalion already entrenched fairs well whilst the remaining battalion has suffered substantial disablements. In the long run all should go well once the disablements have been sorted. Supply should not be an issue either. In the end fatigue and experience will surely doom the defense unless reinforcements make their way to this isolated outpost. The ships that were hit all have fires in single digits so high hopes there that all fires will be dealt with swiftly. In a few days’ time some battleships will steam into view and deliver misery to these troublesome defenders. Sweep of Bombay meets less defensive air assets than expected.
