Paradigm,

Great work on this! You added some very interesting elements.

I ran this as computer vs. computer until October 1942. Singapore, Palembang, Batavia, Semkawang, Sabang, Port Blair, Kopaeng, Dili and Surabaya (plus a number of bases in between) have yet to fall, although Singapore is very close. New Guinea is in IJ hands except Merauke. Burma is all IJ except for Akyab. In CenPac, IJ has the usual possessions plus Baker. In SoPac, there's a big battle at Lunga and the IJ has Tulagi. Otherwise, base possession matches history in SoPac.

I took over for a few turns as Allies vs Computer, but I think the extra air units (there are a lot, and not just French) make this pretty easy for an Allied human vs. IJ AI. The only Allied constraint is shipping, as the losses are high (but so are IJ shipping losses).

Anyway, the upshot of my comment is this not too challenging a scenario to play against the AI (not compared to Andy Mac's nasties). However, I'd love to see an AAR of two humans duking it out using this scenario. Finally, I'd like to humbly add that stacking limits are great and might do well in this scenario.

Cheers,
CC

One more comment I forgot to mention yesterday: The French don't have a lot of suitable air leaders.

Thanks for all of the comments Cody.

You are correct that in a game vs the computer that it's too easy for the allies. I don't know how to change AI scripting, and unfortunately the Ironman AI doesn't use the additional IJN ships as effectively as it should, making it easy for the allied player to really hurt the Japanese AI.

Currently I have a test game going with General Patton where we're catching bugs. I'm playing Japan (which isn't going to be a great test - I'm not a very experienced player, and its my first time playing Japan), so we'll see if I give the allies a little more trouble than the AI does.

You're correct when it comes to French Air Leaders - I actually added quite a few French Naval leaders because i ran into shortages in AI test games, but I neglected to add more air leaders. I'll plan on adding some this weekend and uploading updated scen files with various corrections that Patton and I have found.

CC,
Para and I are currently running a test PBEM game to find and fix issues. We have found and fixed a couple. Find a PBEM partner and start one up. An extra set of eyes can't hurt. I will check the french pilot thing.Well I guess I should of read futher. And YES, The game is not very AI friendly. As Para said, the scripts don't exist for the new ships/Naval units. But I will say, This is a slug fest. Quality is poor in polit skills, as it should be, but even the allies can at least fight back, some. Para, From my end you are doing fine. By the way, email me about the new official upgrade....GP

I could see dabbling in a PBEM of the next update to this. Could be some fun if my opponent doesn't expect too many turns per week (maybe 3-4).

Another thing I noticed was three NZ brigades on Lunga had about 30-35 engineering vehicles each. Now, that could be the AI cheating and adding devices beyond the TOE (the TOE numbers were reasonable, maybe four eng vehicles). The AI had until October to boost device counts and send restricted units hither and yon.

Cheers,
CC

Hi Cody,

Unfortunately work took me out of town this week, and I'll be playing catch-up at the office when I get back. I hope to have a new update this weekend with some fixes.

Could you get me the names of the NZ brigades that you were referring to?

Thanks!

CC,
One thing that I have noticed, is that you can actually fight for a location if you want to. The pbem with Para is mostly a search for issues, but I am enjoying it....gp

Hi Bill,
check the art folder for a focus pacific air art folder. You may have to move them to the main art folder. I had the same issue and if I remember correctly, that fixed it. Post again if it does or doesn't work....gp

Well, Currently i'm playing a test pbem with para on this mod, A BTS pbem with juan, I'm doing a pbem test ten A with sid on his RHS mod, and i'm doing beta and mod work with DWU. So, uh, not now anyway. If a large bag of money lands in my lap and I can retire, Then yes. Sorry.
Post in the Opponents forum. Or look above. There are two willing soles in the above posts.

Good luck....GP

I am game for a slow game...I am not sure how many turns per week, but 3 sounds doable. It wouldn't be a serious, serious game but more of a trial run for fun. Not trying to break the game but just to see what is in it...

Here are two things I have caught: The Triomphant listed here is the same ship as the Le Triomphant that starts in Suva.

Surely the other destroyers should be 34 knots not 43!

The L'Adroit class seems to have dc throwers and dc racks...is this correct? Pretty good ASW then for the Allies early on.

Good catch on the Triomphant! It turns out I haven't added it's sister ships Le Malin, L'Indomptable or L'Audacieux, so I'll probably rename the doppleganger to one of the other Fantasque class ships.

The Morgador class destroyers were actually that fast - different sources give a top speed anywhere from 39 to 44 knots(!).

The Adroit class did not have ASW armament historically as far as I can tell, but I added the ASW capability to them in this scenario so they could still serve as escorts. I may have went a little overboard with the DC thrower, but I wanted to give the allies a little early-war ASW love.

Once a new update is out I'll be happy to take on anyone for 3-4 turns a week. I'd rather play as Allies as I haven't played the IJ side since Pacific War. Note that I'd be a PBEM first timer so don't expect brilliant moves on my part.

Cheers,
CC

Update posted.

Major changes include:
* More French Air Leaders
* Fixed static French Mixed Colonial Regiments
* Kwangchowan is now a much strong French bastion, with organic supply and a much larger fighter complement
* French Caledonia detachments now support small float plane detachments, as intended. They also have a little more supply so they don't start the game in the red.
* Added Guepard class destroyers - decent all around destroyers with good early-game ASW.
* Added the French heavy cruiser Algerie. Enters at Aden in 1942.
* Added the remaining Suffren class cruisers
* Fixed the Triomphant doppelganger situation. Now the l'Indomptable and the Le Malin start in Suva, while their sister ship Le Triomphant begins the game in Tahiti.

To update re-download the Scen Files from the Scen Files folder, and place them in your SCEN folder, download AnSide0843.bmp and AnSide0844.bmp from the AlliedShip_Back dropbox folder to your AlliedShip_Back folder, and download AnShil0843.bmp and AnShil0844.bmp from the AlliedShip_Transp dropbox folder to your AlliedShip_Transp folder. This way you're just downloading a few files to update instead of having to re-download the whole mod.

Actually nix that - for some reason my French Mixed Colonial Regiments are still static, and I can't figure out why.

Whew, finally caught this, new version going up on dropbox. Turns out I had assigned a load coast of 9999 on the French 13.1mm AAMG, which meant that none of those units could move.

I just sent my test turn back to Para.
A couple of things I found this turn where Indian leaders for LCU's. only one in the pool. I am sure Para will fix. Will check air and naval next turn.
The other was kind of a funny ASW attack to the east of Java. I apparently attacked a IJN sub 3 times with naval units, but I don't have any in the area. Has anyone else come across something similar?

Otherwise, I had my pants down at Singers a couple of turns ago and lost 5, yes 5 large tankers that were loading fuel..
Among other ships.

Options are many with this mod. You can run and hide or you can pull up your man panties and stay and fight. Where and how are up to you. Para, Watch out man..

Para, by the way, I decided to learn a little about the japanese econ. So maybe in our next test, I'll try Japan.....GP

Great, thanks!

I'll try to post a fix tomorrow if not tonight. The Indian leader situation is strange - I didn't touch those at all. In any case, I'll take a look and add some more leaders as well.
