25k allied troops vanish in idle T1 ?

Invariably (?) the Axis player finds himself with at least -34 VPs after t1, obviously caused by �other losses�. And it�s pretty obvious too that the WA loose about 25k of ground troops even when no fighting, no ground movement, no air combat, no auto naval patrols, no ship movement occurs. 25k of people mysteriously vanish, the equivalent of more than a whole Inf Div.
1)How and where did I loose 25k of troops ?
2)Did I overlooked something (to reduce losses).
3)What�s the rationale behind this rather strange mode of counting, the more since there seems to be nothing you can do against a negative score?

Does this happen in the 43-45 campaign or some other scenario?

43-45 campaign. And to be correct they don't vanish, however they're listed under "disabled". Where did they fought ?

What's more a full scale invasion of Sicily without naval sup, no air sup, no ground support and you name it accounted for only 4k of casualties. Where's the balance ?

BTW, these invasion losses gave an additional -4 VP. This fact finding mission was done without WA-ADs to get an idea of the VP gains/losses without air war losses.

Presumably the North African campaign.
The game starts both players with a pool of disabled troops. There is an algorithm by which a small portion of the 'disabled' return to service (e.g. General Hube lost his arm in 1914 and after about a year was back in uniform)

There is no way to avoid this starting pool, it's a scenario setting.

Can't speak to the rationale for it affecting the score. I would say that ~30 points probably won't be the knife's edge that decides the game one way or the other after 100+ turns.

The starting disabled manpower counts as losses on turn 1 for victory purposes. This was balanced into the victory levels.

Believe me, the first turn delta is nothing in the VP scale. Try fluffing a Northern France campaign!
