Not sure if this has already been tried by anyone, but it turns out you can have quite large ships. I had a notion today about a monster sized vessel and so took a quick look at the research file. There is an option in the construction techs for size. So here is Earth, with a large space port, the sips in orbit do contain some 850 size capitals and a 1100 carrier. Oh and that monster in the bottom right? A size 5000 capital, imperial march music anyone?

Just altered the construction size parameter for the construction techs.

Any chance you could click on the ship and post a screen shot of its stats?

I think you will find that the stats are nothing too special. You can tweak the visual size of the ships/bases.

The stats of the ship are crappy, it is simply full of engines, life support and energy to fuel convertors. When you are making a ship of size 5000 as a test you tend to just want it made quickly and do not care about stats. All I was concerned about were two things.

1. Can you alter ship sizes with files that have real effects in game.
2. Can something that big actually manage to move.

Everything after that is personal choice for a ship designer so not relevant to the test.

This is not a visual tweak, that ship is size 5000 compared to the default maximum of 1500 (for non carriers).
