Why do I log in at the beginning, then after typing for 20 minutes and hitting "submit", I lose the whole thing and I get a "You aren't logged in" message?

Irinami could be right, since this happened to me when I first registered. Logout and then try logging back in....if that doesn't work then perhaps Gmenfan could take a shot at the issue.

Worse case scenario is you might have to re-register. :( But let's try everything else first! ;)

It's usually user goof up.

Dump cookies, then use a bookmark to get to site. Browse then decide to post, you were not logged in. I have my Windows set to remember passwords, but turfing cookies dumps the memory of you logging in.

Log in but then use back button to before you logged in and the browser gets snarled, because now it forgets you logged in somehow.

Sometimes I type a really good post, hit tab button by mistake thinking it was caps key, poof your post goes where your junk mail went.

Few rare cases I have entered site minutes before site maintenance. Was here when I got here, but when I went to post it suddenly seems unable to accept post.

BTW, I found the best thing to do is to write in "MS word" and copy and paste...but I don't always remember to go through that trouble.

I've never had the problem you describe. I think, like was mentioned before, that you have a cookie problem. Are you having your computer refuse all cookies? If so, perhaps the Forum is having trouble recognizing you.

There is nothing worse than a lost post! Arrgh! There is some time out feature in IE, I never looked into it, but if you are typing away at a screen on some message boards then do the preview and then try to go back and change your message, the whole thing is gone! I'm not sure if it's the length of the message or the length of time my typing-challenged fingers take to make it. So I try to write long posts in Notepad or Word first also. Unfortunately, I don't do it as often as I need to. Anyway, I do most of my surfing/posting in Opera now and don't have that problem to deal with.

I am starting to suspect that there is a time-out feature. If I log on and type, walk away and come back an hour later I can keep typing. HOWEVER, it may have logged me off without telling me. That's my guess.
