Bad feelings are being created around a good product and good people in the CGW (Commander Great War) forum. If i were the management I would go in there and shape the discussion in a positive direction. There should be a win-win happening instead of what is happening

There can be no "win-win situation" as long as a product is not properly supported, and this means issuing patches - when necessary - which are tested and are actually working. Seems that nobody is able to play the game with the latest 1.6.2 patch installed, without getting a CTD at various times. But never mind, some purchasers couldn't play the game with older patches installed either.

I re-installed CTGW on the 13th, and un-installed it again yesterday, and am moving on. No more "Commander" games for me. No game at all, whatever its Name or engine, by that particular publishers/developers either. CTGW was having issues since release, and it still has issues. My bet is that in a year the situation will remain the same. It just doesn't interest me anymore, and I don't bother to post in the CTGW forum, as it's useless.

better to keep forum stuff in one section rather than bring it elsewhere imo, or report it, then again i'm sure the mods already know what's going off, doing anything about it is another thing altogether tbh, time heals and fixes all

Hi guys

we certainly would not release a patch that broke saved game compatibility so will look in to it. This is something we tell to all the developers we work with. As a minimum and if there were no way to make things backwards compatible then we would let users know in advance. We'll look in to this ASAP and find out what went wrong. The patch had extensive testing but because the testing went on so long it may be the dev team forgot to check what happens with users coming from the previous version to this version. We work to improve games beyond the release but not all developers have the resources to make the chances we ask for. One other thing I wanted to mention - Firepower developed Commander Europe at War and Commander Napoleon at War and the Lordz developed Commander the Great War so each game in the series has a different developer, different engine and different teams to support it.

We apologies for any inconvenience caused and will see what can be done ASAP.

I'll lock this thread up so any future comments can be in the CTGW forum to avoid duplication.
