Snow day?! Why not ski to work then?

This word "work" that you are discussing. What is that?

Ask Zorch.

Work has an image problem. It needs to hire a high profile consultant and rebrand itself.

Well, someone who works in the metal health field asked me what do "work" and "play" have in common. I told him that they were both four letter words and can be quite dirty at times. He did not like that. I guess that he wanted something like "The are both verbs" or "They are both activities." How was I supposed to know that he as testing my English communication skills?

Could it be that he wanted you to confirm that he was smart?

Why would he want me to confirm that he was smart? Didn't he know that already or did he want his ego boosted?

He also asked me "Why do they say opportunity only knocks once?"

I replied "Because you hit it over the head and drag it in so it won't leave." He didn't like that answer either.

Of course he does/did. That is why he went into the mental health field to practice. You see, those practitioners are not perfect which is why they stay in the field practicing for so long. When they finally do get it right, then they quit practicing and retire.

Zorch, Gentlemen are the men with titles and Ladies either have their own title, are married to a man with a title, or both. Men do not take a title from their wife so if they do not have a title on their own, they are referred to as a "consort" which I think is another term for "Stud."

There is in fact a Lady who did not graduate from a high school or equivalent but is a Colonel in an Armoured Regiment, all on her own merits.

I expect she would wear furs. The other ladies envy the fur undergarments, which are worn with the fur on the inside.

That is correct Zorch, don't even look at the picture!

No, this might once have been the definition, but it is no longer so. Languages evolve. And so does the meaning of words.

And nowdays men do get titles from their wife. And has for quite some time.

Well, that Dame Holmes is a Lady and if she is married the rules state that the husband does not gain the title.

Prince Phillip is referred to as a consort.
