Why yes, actually. I consumed my last Moosehead so I will have to procure more.

Sometimes at that time, I am in the land of Nod.

Other times at that time, I am In Somnia.

Unfortunately, where I live that is extremely difficult. So I procure Moosehead because the flavor is that of a good European Lager.

I can’t really agree with the implication that a lager is a beer either... closer to a soda !

But my uncle told me it’s really hard to import real Belgian beers in the US. If you ever come on this side of the pond, you really have to try a Westmalle Triple, a Duvel, a Maredsous and an Orval.

I have spent some time in Europe, Germany mostly but also a nice long Ne Year's weekend in London. I preferred the Lager to Ale. But maybe because I am more sensitive to the taste of bitter things and I do not care for them.

But you can easily buy a Belgian company's beer over here - it is sold by Anheuser-Busch!

English ale and Belgian ale is not the same thing, lots of difference. Belgian beer is notably sweeter (on the whole), and there is more variety, much more than what InBev sells (although I like the Hoegaarden Witte and the Leffe).

Not a huge Hoegaarden Witte fan - too sweet. Leffe works. But one must be careful with some of that Belgian beer - alcohol content approaching that of wine....

Wine is weak. Try very chilled Apfelkorn . . .

New neighbors transferred from Germany this past summer. Been such a splendid nice winter they think I am a liar about North Dakota winters. Boy are they are in for a biiiiig surprise. And learn to trust the life long Bohemain NoDak.

Winter is coming - example 1

You should look up some pictures from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for snow. Especially Sault Saint Marie, MI, USA:

quote:

Greatest Amount of Snow in One Day:

26.6in. — The one-day record snowfall for Sault Ste Marie, Michigan was recorded on December 10th, 1995 as seen in the chart below.
.
.
.
Greatest Snowfall in One Season:

208.8 inches – The greatest cumulative snow fall for Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. This occurred during the year that ended December 31st, 1995. This was surely a banner year for snowplow contractors!
Marquette had close to 300 inches for that year!

quote:

Under the Köppen climate classification, Sault Ste. Marie has a humid continental climate (Dfb) with cold, snowy winters and warm summers.[17] Sault Ste. Marie is one of the snowiest places in Michigan, receiving an average of 120 inches (3.0 m) of snow per winter season, with a record year when 209 inches (5.3 m) fell. 62 inches (1.6 m) of snow fell in one five-day snowstorm, including 28 inches (71 cm) in 24 hours, in December 1995.[18] Precipitation measured as equivalent rainfall, Sault Ste. Marie receives an annual average of 33 inches (840 mm). Its immediate region is the cloudiest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, having over 200 cloudy days a year.[citation needed]

Temperatures in Sault Ste. Marie have varied between a record low of −36 °F (−38 °C) and a record high of 98 °F (37 °C). Monthly average temperatures range from 13 °F (−11 °C) in January to 64 °F (18 °C) in July.[19] On average, only two out of every five years reaches 90 °F (32 °C), while there are 85.5 days annually where the high remains at or below freezing and 26.5 nights with a low of 0 °F (−18 °C) or colder.

Average monthly precipitation is lowest in February, and highest in September and October. This autumn maximum in precipitation, unusual for humid continental climates, owes to this area's Great Lakes location. From May through July (usually the year's wettest months in most of the upper Midwestern United States, away from large bodies of water), the lake waters surrounding Sault Ste. Marie are cooler than nearby land areas. This tends to stabilize the atmosphere, suppressing precipitation (especially showers and thunderstorms) somewhat, in May, June and July. In autumn, the lakes are releasing their stored heat from the summer, making them warmer than the surrounding land, and increasingly frequent and strong polar and Arctic air outbreaks pick up warmth and moisture during their over-water passage, resulting in clouds and instability showers. In Sault Ste. Marie, this phenomenon peaks in September and October, making these the wettest months of the year. Also noteworthy is that in Sault Ste. Marie, the year's third wettest month, on average, is November, and not any summer month.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sault_Ste._Marie,_Michigan#Geography_and_climate

So you can see why the Edmund Fitzgerald had some problems that one day . . .

Ah, one of the places I wanted to go to when I was snowmobiling. Had a trip planned that got canceled, the next year got sick, not likely to happen.

Gaspe Peninsula was another location. Add to that the train out of Toronto to the Arctic Circle drop-off and ride back.

Did get to do Yellowstone on a sled. Best time to go, not too many tourists, although there were enough to make it annoying.

Sucks gettin' old.

Snowing here too. Well, there’s at least 0.1 inch of snow accumulating on the lawn...

To my understanding, Voyageurs National Park is also a good place to go snowmobiling. Plus ice fishing although you can easily make ice at home now or buy it in a store.
