Here, in February-March, people went crazy on the toilet paper, supermarkets were emptied as soon as they restocked... Indeed. Although here most stores were not completely emptied before they got restocked. This reaction was somewhat surprising because we manufacture lots of paper here. It is one of our major export industries. Same here - I don't know why they figured TP would be needed in vast quantity during the pandemic or that the supply would be cut off. It's the fresh fruit and vegetables I was worried about but the trucks kept coming after all. What did run out were the Lysol disinfecting wipes which were snapped up by all the businesses that remained open and had to disinfect after each customer. Fortunately(?), I had a very bad eye infection in December and had bought a Costco 3-pack of those wipes, so I could disinfect everything I touched. When the pandemic broke, I still had two unopened packages which I was able to give to my two local families with kids. Smiles all around. Maybe the number of ****ty ideas which were running around everywhere, back then (well, still now) ? I think that the biggest problem was the lack of knowledge. With the shutdowns/lockdowns announced, people did not know what was next so they panicked. Not me, I did not run out of things.
