ORIGINAL: fcooke Jeez RJ - with meals like that I am surprised you are still standing/sitting...... I have a lot of shape! The idea is to do things with as little cleanup as is possible so I don't have to be on my feet - such as they are. Put a pot of salted water to boil. Add rotini pasta and cook until they are about one minute away from al dente. Drain but not completely. Meanwhile, warm up some good olive oil and butter in a saute pan. Add garlic, then onions, peppers, mushrooms and other fresh veggies like summer squash from the garden which are all cut to the approximate size of the pasta. Add water from the pasta as needed, the little bit of starch will help to thicken. If using dried herbs like basil, parsley, oregano, and/or a mix, add them now. If using fresh herbs, add them later. When the pasta is done as above and the veggies are also almost done, add the drained pasta to the veggies and sauce. Cook until finished. Top with fresh ground black pepper, Parmesan, Romano . . . If desired, add anything from skim milk to cream for a white sauce. If desired, add diced cooked, leftover boneless chicken. If desired and using a good non-stick pan, before adding the pasta stir in and let melt fresh meltable cheese like farmers cheese, pepper jack cheese, mozzarella, or even blue cheese . . . If desired, take frozen but cooked salad/cocktail shrimp, thaw even under running water, then remove the tails and veins, then add to the sauce about a minute before the pasta to warm them up . . . Think of all of the veggies, protein, and carbs with the seasonings. A good source of all that you need except for some partially desugared grape juice. Use a good yeast to desugar the grape juice or buy it that way. This can be the main meal or a side dish.
